[ Clem, that's concerning? The look Jeanne gives her says that's concerning, but she won't call attention to it because she doesn't want them to stand out.
[ clem looks briefly alarmed because boy is deception not her strong point. but she doesn't think it would make sense for a jester to go hunting? why is my turn order first, this is horrible ]
No, we're uh - helping prepare. Here. Are they hunting for the feast or for... Fun?
[ The other worker cuts the one who's speaking off, and then glance at Jeanne. Better not talk badly about nobles when the king's aide is right there?? ]
[ oh okay we can split up, i guess that makes sense. but hmm, she tries to - shoot a smile to the one who almost slipped something interesting? a jester probably doesn't like the king, right? because that kind of job sounds really annoying to have?? ]
Tell me later?

[ The worker blinks, and then nods his head at Clementine.
Jeane will see that these stables are, in deed, the Fancy ones. All of the horses here are very beautiful, and have definitely been bred to be in top condition. there seems to be about six of them saddled, but they are now adding a seventh for Jeanne. ]
anyway she doesn't know what to look for here, so she'll keep trying to get information. and she'll help saddle up the last horse, because she knows how to do that! ]
So when do you think the feast will really get started? [ said as if, you know ,obviously, those annoying nobles... taking their time and making things harder for the staff... ]
The king keeps changing the plans! They suddenly added more guests to the list last minute, and now we need to prepare rooms for them and find space for their belongings--I was supposed to have a day off tomorrow, and now I'm going to be stuck cleaning up!
[ There is a lot of salt here.
It doesn't take too long for them to appear, although only five of them show up--four men and one woman. They all look relatively young. ]
The king was meant to join us, but they changed their mind.
[ It's said in a tone that makes it obvious they are not surprised. They see Clem. ]
[ okay she steps back from the horse... reaches into her jester bag and pulls out some beanbags to juggle. she tries to juggle like four at a time. she has it going for like. a couple seconds? a couple tosses? but
A) she has not practiced juggling ever in her life and B) she's missing?? a finger???
so she just kind of ends up dropping all of the beanbags.
it's part of the trick don't even worry about it. she looks completely stone-faced the whole time. ]
[ The nobles all look deeply confused, but then Jeanne starts clapping?? That's the king's aide, so uh. Does that mean the king would find it funny if the aide approves?
[ This is the most uncomfortable silence in the world, and the nobles keep glancing at Jeanne during to to gauge her reaction. Is this normal? Is this still what the king things is funny? Will they be beheaded if they start heckling?
At least, Jeanne saves the day, and they all nod happily and go to mount their own horses. Time to go!
Well, you know how nobles are. They keep throwing these lavish parties, and then they go horribly wrong. The king is so temperamental that these things never end well...
[ He shudders.
Meanwhile, back on the horses. ]
No... they just said that this idea suddenly seemed boring, even though it was originally theirs!

Bookmarks it for a later time.
But a feast, is it?
Jeanne calls out to the workers: ]
Pardon me, who are you saddling these horses for?
no subject
Some members of the court wish to go hunting. Are you joining them?
no subject
No, we're uh - helping prepare. Here. Are they hunting for the feast or for... Fun?
no subject
The Jester may do something else, but I'll join.
[ Court gossip should have a different kind of information than worker gossip. ]

Uh. Yeah. We can prepare a horse for you.

Tell me later?

Jeanne smiles at the workers. ]
Thank you. Please take your time.
[ But Jeanne will also take a look around the stables, as all those horses are saddled up? Does it look like this is a stables just for the nobles? ]
no subject

Jeanne pretends she's more interested in the horse than whatever answers to the question are.
She will keep an eye out for whenever those six nobles appear. ]

Jeanne claps!
Like that's totally what should have happened. Yeah. ]
That was a new one.

Clementine, please pick those up. You never know when you'll need them again.
[ To the nobles: ]
Shall we begin?

Wow... good job.

Thanks. I think the king is gonna love that one.

What were you saying?

Please lead the way. [ She doesn't know where anything is. ] Do you know what the king decided to do instead?

We just have to try and keep the king happy. So what happened last time? I don't want to repeat any mistakes, you know?
no subject
[ Of this king, at least. ]
What were you all going to hunt?
no subject
How could you forget? It reset because the king got angry about you.
[ Meanwhile, Jeanne's entourage nods. ]
Oh, foxes. Their coats are quite lovely.
