[ The npc that was just thrown breaks their neck and dies. Anyway.

The gun doesn't do much, except make it pause walking for a moment before it continues on. It's heading for the carriages so it can pick them up and then throw them at the two girls. ]

clem's microraptor jumps out of her hood, where it was apparently napping this whole time. it grows to as big as it gets, however big that is, then heads towards the carriages to try to keep the being from doing - whatever it intends to do with them.

clem calls out to jeanne: ]

I don't have anything else!

[ all she has is gun, dinosaur, and... beanbags?? ]

Where is the king? Do we know where the king is?

[ Jeanne also doesn't have anything else. Can't write this being's name on a wedding invitation because

1) don't know its name
2) it's not a participant ]

But maybe your dinosaur can hold it off for a while!

[ Well, I guess this thing is now wrestling with a dinosaur, so the two of them will have some time to catch up. ]

I think the dinosaur can keep the being preoccupied.

[ The dinosaur and the being are both still vibing. Don't mind them. A carriage is being thrown somewhere, probably towards the castle. ]

I don't know what else to do for her. I'm really not cut out for this shit.

[ but maybe jeanne can. do something. who knows. better to head that way now while they have time. don't die, dinosaur!! ]

[ Since Clem was the one who saw them last. To the gardens!!! ]

[ clem leads the way back towards the garden where she last saw the king! ]

She seems really bored of everything. I don't know how the fuck to entertain her.

When the nobles talked of the king, it seemed she changed her mind often. We'll need to see what can catch her interest.

[ clem figured she was a pretty reasonable king to not be entertained by her... "juggling" but. maybe she's actually unreasonable? ]

[ When they reach the garden, Clementine will notice that now the entire thing is wild and unruly. Instead of something neatly maintained, it looks as if no one has ever tried to tend to it ever in their life. ]

Is that how this is supposed to look like, Clementine?

[ Somehow, Jeanne doesn't think so.

Sure hope the dino is still keeping that being occupied while they're checking out this garden. Also, I looked up what royal stewards wear and i guess it really is fancy. Imagine that going though a few tree beatings and narrowly being crushed by a carriage.

Nnno, it was really nice earlier. Mostly. Now it just looks like gardens back home.

[ and where did the king go... ]

[ As they move deeper into the garden, there will be a moment where the scenery flashes and, for a second, turns into what looks like a classroom. It's immediately back to the garden.

Still no sign of the king though. ]

[discernments]

That the environment can change just like that...

[ Bad! ]

A classroom? When I was hunting earlier, there was a fog and for a moment, I thought I could see a city.

[ Time to go deeper into the gardens??? ]

[ they continue onward! ]

Is that - a hint, you think? Like that we're supposed to go somewhere else?

[ where even would a city be relative to a castle. she does not think that's it, she's just floating ideas. ]

[ They will eventually reach a spot that is incredibly thick with plants, to the point where they will have to squeeze through. But, if they look on the ground, they'll see white lines drawn on the floor and leading through that spot. ]

[discernments]

... I think this may be some kind of illusionary world. Or we're to be shown one.

[ It's one or the other.

Jeanne points at the white lines, though. ]

This may be a trap, but it's our only real direction. If you could, please wait for me to give the clear before climbing through. It's better if only one of us incapacitated instead of both of us.

[ And Jeanne is already the more injured one, so. ]

[ hrm. clem doesn't like that. ]

I can go first. I have a gun. That's better for clearing the way if there's something dangerous there. If you're hurt, you should stay back.

[discernments]

Clementine, it is less efficient for both of us to be hurt.

[ After a beat: ]

If you insist on going at the same time, let me go first.

[ That's her compromise. ]

[ clem... will accept this compromise, but only because jeanne seems like the stubborn type and she doesn't want to waste time.

so with her gun drawn, she will follow jeanne along the white line! ]

[ Yeah, Jeanne is too stubborn for her own good.

Into the plants! Following the white line! ]

[ Into the path! It'll be slow moving for them, with so much in the way, and they'll probably end up scratched by branches and any thorns that are in the way.

If they're looking at the line, they'll notice that instead of being just complete straight, it sort of twists and zig zags around while still going in the same direction, almost like whatever made it was creating some type of pattern. ]
