[arcsplainist]

[ Alphinaud frowns; there is no immediate response, but when it comes, it's slow and thoughtful. ]

... Yes, I believe so. I pray that good health comes to you, miss.

[ He turns to leave. ]

[retellers]

Alright, goodbye.

[ She mumbles something about how weird the two of them are. Why is the librarian bringing her food? They must be short staffed...

But the two will exit the room and return to the hallway. ]

[evocationary]

[ she pauses before they go into the next room, right outside the door, glancing at alphinaud. ]

Reset? Like... what does that mean? Look, The Fantasy Maxtrix was overrated, I'm not really down for this red pill, blue pill nonsense.

[arcsplainist]

I—

[ What?? ]

... The cook mentioned a "reset", as well. Something is slipping through whatever front this memory is attempting to be.

These things get weird like that, for sure. Like, uh - I think the stuff in the Realm slips through sometimes, based on what I heard from the other people who have been through these.

[ deep breath. ] Let's, uh - do this quick, and then go find the king, huh? Hope Clementine and Jeanne are alright.

[ she gestures for alphinaud to open the door, since she's still holding a tray. ]

And we are seeing firsthand how.

[ A reset though... He doesn't like the sound of that. ]

[ Alphinaud knocks on the next door, then opens it. ]

Good day—your meal is here.

[retellers]

[ It's an older gentleman this time. He, uh. Still has some leeches on him. ]

Oh! Good day to you. I was wondering if you were all ordered to let me starve.

[evocationary]

Unfortunately not! [ she says this so cheerfully and keeps barreling on. ]

Here it is. [ she puts the tray down and then ABSCONDS goodbye she wants nothing to do with the leeches. from six feet away: ] So, uh, when did you start feeling ill?

[arcsplainist]

[ Oh that kind of is a little gross.

Alphinaud remains hovered by the doorway, silent for the moment. ]

[retellers]

[ It looks very disgusting yes.

The man sighs. ]

I just made a small joke, and immediately after I suddenly felt like I would die at any moment.

[evocationary]

Ooh. See, that's where you went wrong. Nobody in this castle likes jokes, apparently.

[ the king just... has a bad sense of humor, ig ]

Are you still feeling like death?

[arcsplainist]

[ Someone has a short fuse, it would seem. ]

About that damn jester. Why is making jokes about jesters a big deal?

[ He huffs. ]

I still feel awful, but I think the leeches are helping.

[ They're not. ]

[ hrrrrr. okay, well. ] Enjoy... your food and your leeches, we have to go.

[ they could try to ask for more information but honestly lup is grossed out by Leech Face and would like to leave ]

[ As much as Alphinaud would like to, Lup clearly has other plans. And so: ]

[ And off they go!

Like before, there are a few people wandering around doing their job. The library was previously mentioned to them but also, where is the library.

Anyway. What do. ]

[evocationary]

[ it seems important to find this king dude. mostly because people keep bringing up the jester being like, some kind of important to him and lup super doesn't like that.

she glances at alphinaud. ]

Don't suppose you have any idea where the library is.

[arcsplainist]

I haven't the faintest, but worry not.

[ Thankfully, they're not going to be here forever, so if they have to make themselves out to be even stranger than usual—

Alphinaud strolls down and approaches the first servant he comes across. ]

—Pardon my interruption, but it would seem with all the frenzy going about, I failed to pay mind to my surroundings and, well, got somewhat turned around. Might you point me in the direction of the library again?

[retellers]

[ The servant pauses. Looks at Alphinaud. Squints. Looks at Lup. Back to Alphinaud. ]

On the first floor...?

[ A pause. ]

Did you... indulge in the drink?

[evocationary]

[ she giggles a little at that.

a beat, and then she decides she'll bail him out. ]

Nah, nah, he just got too many leeches this morning. Everybody knows you go off the shits when you stick that many leeches on your face! [ she ruffles alphinaud's hair, leaning against him. she's very cold, as always. ] Thanks, first floor it is.

[arcsplainist]

... Yes. It was the leeches.

[ He doesn't refute it or fight off the hair ruffles, but somehow, that excuse is even worse than pretending to be tipsy. ]

[ And then, once they start walking off back toward the stairs and away from the workers, Alphinaud sighs at Lup. ]

Leeches, Ruby? Really?

[ The leeches...

They return downstairs, and it's even busier than it was before. Like previously stated, there are a couple of doors they can choose from. Five on the left and five on the right, and one they know for sure is the kitchen.

Guests and staff all walk around. Some previously seen faces are also still here. ]

[evocationary]

Yes, leeches. [ she says, grinning still. ] What, did you want to get in trouble for drinking on the job?

[ she nudges him as they hit the first floor. ] You check the right side and I'll check the left?

[ her dungeon and dragons senses are tingling ]

[arcsplainist]

[ His mouth presses into a thin line, then: ]

I... know not whether splitting is the best of ideas, but I suppose it should not hurt to take a peek to see...

[ He trails off, walking ahead to check the—hm, third door to the right? Going down in such a neat and orderly manner might garner a bit more looks. ]
