the king On Sunday, at 6pm, Emet-Selch will receive a message on his PHS. 👤 ➡️ 🏰 go there. Upon receiving this message, Emet-Selch will notice that the castle appears closer than usual. Should he head towards it, he will finally be able to reach its entrance. Inside is a large hall with various doors, along with a staircase, but he will be able to access only a single door. Once he steps inside, he will find his Leader waiting for him. After their meeting is over and he leaves the castle, he will no longer be able to reach the castle again. ༶•┈┈⛧┈｡o°✥✣ 　　 ✣✥°o｡┈⛧┈┈•༶ As the King: Every Sunday, the King will be able to create one rule and one order that must be followed. These decrees will go into effect on the Monday of the following week, and will last until the following Sunday. The two decrees are as follows: 1) One rule that every participant must follow, the only stipulations being that it cannot contradict any of the current rules and that you cannot consecutively make the same rule. This rule will be added to the official rulebook, and anyone who breaks it will be punished. 2) One order that one participant must follow. The participant will not be informed that an order has been given to them, and will only be aware of an urge to obey it. The participant will follow this order until the new week begins, or until the King chooses to remove it. ༶•┈┈⛧┈｡o°✥✣ 　　 ✣✥°o｡┈⛧┈┈•༶ Additional notes: The King will be allowed to ask questions about the on-goings of the game and communicate with their Leader in their weekly meetings. They may receive small hints should they perform well. However, the information received will be up to their Leader's discretion.

Well, I suppose you have beaten me to the chase.

[he fully intended to call on them again today, but you know, things happen. he's been busy getting bothered by other people.]

To what do I owe the invitation?

[ a pause. ]

Not in the like, literal sense. Check your PHS.

[ when they say that, a new app titled KING pops up. in it, he will find all of the rules. ]

[arkitect]

[that gets a raised brow, as he pulls the phs out and glances down to it. upon opening the app, he takes a minute to read it over, before looking back up to tiger.]

...How interesting. And was this yet another decision made for you, or yours, this time?

It was basically narrowed down based on who actually spoke to me.

[ implying there are team members who have Not. ]

[arkitect]

What a surprise, that you of all people would be tied to those without the temperament to come and be social.

[maybe a slight hint of amusement, there. is this just what comes of being the 'i don't want to get to know you' type, tiger...]

I should like to clarify a thing or two about these rules, however.

[retellers]

[ they sigh, and take another sip of their drink. ]

Yeah, ask them.

By 'every participant', am I to take it that I will be bound to any I make as well?

[retellers]

Nope! You'll just have to, you know, act like you are.

[arkitect]

How convenient.

[good thing he's used to acting.]

Then, about the inability to contradict current rules-- if they are subject to change, what of a situation in which they change to contradict one I have put in place? The rules of this place take precedence?

[retellers]

You'd be allowed to make a replacement rule instead. Inconvenient, but even I can't do much about that.

[arkitect]

Well, as long as it is not simply overruled and lost, I can work with that.

[it's an acceptable tradeoff.]

And there are truly no stipulations on what can be given to another participant?

[retellers]

None. It'll be like a compulsion to follow it. They could try resisting, I guess. Like, if you ordered someone to chop their hand off, they might try reeeeally hard not to, because, who the hell would want that?

But they wouldn't be able to ignore the urge. So, you'll either have someone with one less hand, or someone who won't be able to focus on anything except the fact that they want to cut it off.

[arkitect]

Less effective to give one they would truly balk at following, then...

[hm. he's going to have to take that into consideration, when deciding.]

When must the decision be made-- before leaving here?

[retellers]

Yup. I won't be able to let you back here until next week.

[arkitect]

While I consider, then, we may as well speak. As I said, I had intended to call on you myself.

[he's not just going to yeet them out without thought.]

It was not originally among my questions, but now I do have to ask- I don't suppose you can say roughly how many of your own participants you have met? No numbers necessary, really, it would be satisfactory enough to leave it at something like 'most' or 'few'.

[he's mildly curious after what tiger said earlier.]

[retellers]

As of right before we had this meeting, most.

You were picked for me earlier though.

[arkitect]

It could certainly be worse.

[a slight hum as he settles in a bit more, slouchy as ever.]

What I primarily wished to speak about was a conversation I had with Virid, last night.

[retellers]

[ they nod their head. ]

Mm, the kid... [ there's a frown. ] What is it?

[arkitect]

'The kid' claimed the competition not to have been his initial motivation. That he was asked for help, and agreed to lend his assistance.

I thought I might ask what you knew of such claims, or at the least, what you made of it.

[not ruling out a lack of knowledge, but either way, worth bringing up the topic.]

[retellers]

[ their frown deepens. ]

It probably means one of my coworkers is a backstabbing bitch.

[arkitect]

He refused to say who, but implied it could be guessed at-- which I took to mean one of you, as well. Likeliest to be the one he is tied to, but perhaps not a necessity.

[considering what he said about agreeing with their reasoning and what tiger said about not all of them being likely to listen about not getting cozy with other teams, it doesn't have to have been his own.]

He did mention it being justice for them.

[retellers]

[ they sip their drink a little more forcefully. ]

It just gave me more work to do. I thought scavenger hunts were bad enough. [ ... ] Justice, though? What would they want justice for?

[arkitect]

That, I could not say. He was willing to answer some of my questions, but not to speak at much length about it.

[retellers]

I guess the brat was loyal.

[ but hmm... ]

I'm really not into the whole detectiving thing. But I guess one thing to do is to figure out what the hell they'd even want justice for. Maybe they know something the rest of us don't.
