KING RULEBOOK
the king On Sunday, at 6pm, Emet-Selch will receive a message on his PHS. π€ β‘οΈ π° Upon receiving this message, Emet-Selch will notice that the castle appears closer than usual. Should he head towards it, he will finally be able to reach its entrance. Inside is a large hall with various doors, along with a staircase, but he will be able to access only a single door. Once he steps inside, he will find his Leader waiting for him. After their meeting is over and he leaves the castle, he will no longer be able to reach the castle again. As the King: Every Sunday, the King will be able to create one rule and one order that must be followed. These decrees will go into effect on the Monday of the following week, and will last until the following Sunday. The two decrees are as follows:
2) One order that one participant must follow. The participant will not be informed that an order has been given to them, and will only be aware of an urge to obey it. The participant will follow this order until the new week begins, or until the King chooses to remove it. Additional notes: The King will be allowed to ask questions about the on-goings of the game and communicate with their Leader in their weekly meetings. They may receive small hints should they perform well. However, the information received will be up to their Leader's discretion. |

You were picked for me earlier though.

[a slight hum as he settles in a bit more, slouchy as ever.]
What I primarily wished to speak about was a conversation I had with Virid, last night.
no subject
Mm, the kid... [ there's a frown. ] What is it?
no subject
I thought I might ask what you knew of such claims, or at the least, what you made of it.
[not ruling out a lack of knowledge, but either way, worth bringing up the topic.]
no subject
It probably means one of my coworkers is a backstabbing bitch.
no subject
[considering what he said about agreeing with their reasoning and what tiger said about not all of them being likely to listen about not getting cozy with other teams, it doesn't have to have been his own.]
He did mention it being justice for them.
no subject
It just gave me more work to do. I thought scavenger hunts were bad enough. [ ... ] Justice, though? What would they want justice for?
no subject
no subject
[ but hmm... ]
I'm really not into the whole detectiving thing. But I guess one thing to do is to figure out what the hell they'd even want justice for. Maybe they know something the rest of us don't.
no subject
[he already intended to try to learn more of them-- that much hasn't changed.]
If it was one of your coworkers, then perhaps something may be writ to make it harder to do the same again-- although it would be difficult to do so without affecting you, as well.
[emet-selch doesn't care for the competition aspect, but the whole situation really was a pain.
he is absolutely not nice enough to attempt to ban murder, though.]
no subject
but they nod their head. ]
The problem is that we know whatever happened with Virid changed things here. So for all we know, the Realm might have gone, "Oh, people kill each other for contests? Let's make that an actual thing now for real!"
Its ideas of how things work can be fairly simplistic, but if something strong enough influences it, then it may start believing that's just the way it is. [ siiiip. ] This is just theorizing though. Things have changed, but it might not have been that drastically. I just have low expectations.
no subject
[they can absolutely agree on that part.]
So if this Realm is influenced enough by such actions, the proceedings may be altered by them as well?
[because that's-- troubling, actually, his brow furrowing.]
no subject
The thing is, actively trying to influence it won't work. I'm sure people are going to be like, "Hey, if we think very hard that we want there to be no more bad things, that means it'll go away!" That won't work. The Realm may be getting weaker, but it still has defenses up to not let it get purposefully manipulated.
no subject
Unknowing influence is nigh impossible to prevent, as well.
no subject
If the Realm was more stable, it wouldn't be as vulnerable to this sort of thing. What we're doing here would still shape it, but not as drastically as like what happened in the last few days.
no subject
[he folds his arms, considering a moment.]
Differing situations, obviously, but I have seen something similar nearly destroy a world. Depending on how much it can be influenced, then if things continue to happen as they just did-- the ongoing reactions to that could become a concern, could they not?
no subject
The amount of people could also be an issue with that--it's being influenced by a lot of different personality types all coming together. Pretty messy.
[ they set their cup down. ]
But a lot of it is the same. We need nova to help it regain its strength. The more back to its old self it is, the less the Realm will change in reaction to us all.
no subject
As one of the leaders here, how do you believe this ought to proceed?
no subject
New rules go up tomorrow, so we should be able to see if there were any changes that were significant enough to become one besides what you're adding. We'll have a better idea of what this weekend did once we see that.
With our shitty luck, maybe the Realm saw a murder and now believes all competitions should involve that. [ ... ] But that's just a wild guess going by what's happened so far.
no subject
[or if it ends up part of all this, is engaging in it going to be necessary?
he'll be fine either way, really.]
no subject
I won't run out trying to take everyone out, but I'm ready to defend myself if it turns out to be a bloodbath.
no subject
[it has to end one way or another, because with anyone still taking part, it will just drag itself out.
a brief sigh, and-]
You have met more of us now. Given the looks of things, I suppose that I should at the least pay some mind to who is meant to be on the same team, if not to the competition itself-- provided that you have any direction there, that is.
[so, you know, he can at least try to be aware of it if a teammate becomes a Problem.]
no subject
[ ... they want to cheat so bad and say one now but. it's fine. they control the urge. ]
I should give some sort of pep talk about how great teamwork is, but whenever I get on the topic it feels like a hairball is stuck in my throat? Super uncomfortable. But learning your fellow teammates will be helpful down the line.
no subject
Naturally.
[of course there's still a delay. he's not very surprised about it, at least, because everything here feels designed to be at least a little annoying.]
I cannot say much for teamwork with this particular group, either. Among like-minded individuals, certainly, but... [a vague handwave. too many mortals here. they wouldn't appreciate his civilization's values, for the most part, and it remains possible their leaders aren't much different.] This group has no such cohesiveness to it.
no subject
Which like, in theory, is fine. Who wouldn't be all for diversity? Except it's a pain in the ass to deal with in action since you just get people throwing their ideals at each other.
