[ swan is kicking her legs where she's sitting, thrumming with energy as she looks around at the other five. ] Sooo it's a little dramatic and complicated, but it's for a good cause, right? That can't be so bad.

[ goat is sitting like a good child, hands in lap, as he nods to what swan says. ]

Swan is right. It may be difficult, but we have to do our best for everyone's sakes...

[ i was going to continue to be lazy but then jan was good and linked the code. anyway. rabbit just nods nervously ]

Oh, I doubt it. They'll probably be rather upset, actually.

Taken against their will to fight a battle they didn't sign up for? Don't see why anyone would be upset about that.

[ wolf could stand to sound a little less dry, maybe ]

week 0, friday

[ very soon after the death of hajime has been confirmed, the leaders will all regroup in the main lobby of the castle.

rabbit is, uh. crying hysterically. ]

[ almost absent-mindedly, fox pats rabbit's head, as if trying to comfort her.

when he speaks, though, the utter lack of humour in his voice practically makes him sound like a different person. ]

What the hell is going on...? Did another participant kill her?

[retellers]

[ Wolf is doing his trademark arms crossed, but there's steel behind his voice: ]

Had to have been. Nova's been on the fritz since we woke up. The question is, why?

[retellers]

[ tiger mostly seems agitated, her mouth forming a scowl. ]

I didn't get to ask this earlier, but--did you guys fall asleep? Like, really fucking suddenly?

[retellers]

[ goat nods. ]

I did... which is unusual, as I don't require sleep.

[retellers]

[ swan's hands are balled into shaking fists, pink sparkles coming off of them ]

I did. And I don't know about Goat, but when the doors closed, I couldn't teleport out of there at all. How could this happen? Even if they tried to attack each other, it shouldn't have... messed up the world like this so much we couldn't stop it!

[retellers]

[ her words are slightly muffled, since she's now covering her face with her hands. ]

Did we do something wrong? Did we say something that made someone think this was okay?

[retellers]

[ fox's voice is tight. ]

We definitely didn't bring up harming others, and Wolf-san shut down anyone who suggested it, as far as I recall.

week 2, sunday

[retellers]

[ sometime after the execution and everything starts to go horribly wrong, and when they have a moment to spare, fox will approach rabbit.

he smiles tiredly, because let's be honest, they're both exhausted and suffering from headaches right now. everything's great! ]

Rabbit-san. I'm thinking about making some tea—would you like some?

[retellers]

Oh... yes. That'll be fine, thank you.

[ this week... sucked.

but rabbit will walk over to him and give him a small smile. ]

How is...?

[ she trails off as she realizes what a dumb question that is. it's fine. ]

[retellers]

[ haha!

as he starts to brew a pot— ]

... It's difficult, isn't it?

[ she's quiet for a moment. ]

Are we bad people?

That's a difficult question to answer.

[ not for the first time, he wonders why [do the npcs even know mom's title i'm crying or is he just nebulous figure] picked him—because with the return of some of his memories, he's even more convinced that he's never had to deal with anything like this before. ]

... No matter what we think of ourselves, though, it might be up to the participants' judgment.

[ it's not a reassuring answer, and fox hates that he can't do anything to put rabbit at ease, but he doesn't know if there's any truth that could make either of them feel better. ]

[retellers]

... you're probably right.

[ it's times like this that really shows the divide between them and the participants. it really doesn't matter how much they try to get along, they'll never be the same. ]

Um, so. What now?

[retellers]

[ that's the reality of the situation, unfortunately. blanca had asked fox if he was lonely, and the truth is—of course he is. but at this point, it might be better not to even try and cross that boundary. ]

... We'll have to do our best for them. Regardless of our intentions, it's their right to be upset with us.

[ fox kind of hates that he's basically the first to be doxxed like this, but on the other hand, it's a relief: he knows how to stay calm. imagine if shima's leader was, like, tiger or swan. ]

Aside from that, though...

[ "what now" is really the question of the century. ]

... you're going to have many people approach you, you know.

[ if... he hasn't already? she's not sure if he has answered any requests to see him yet. ]
