On Sunday, at 6pm, Emet-Selch will receive a message on his PHS.

Upon receiving this message, Emet-Selch will notice that the castle appears closer than usual. Should he head towards it, he will finally be able to reach its entrance. Inside is a large hall with various doors, along with a staircase, but he will be able to access only a single door. Once he steps inside, he will find his Leader waiting for him.

After their meeting is over and he leaves the castle, he will no longer be able to reach the castle again.

As the King:
Every Sunday, the King will be able to create one rule and one order that must be followed. These decrees will go into effect on the Monday of the following week, and will last until the following Sunday.

Additional notes:
The King will be allowed to ask questions about the on-goings of the game and communicate with their Leader in their weekly meetings. They may receive small hints should they perform well. However, the information received will be up to their Leader's discretion.

People have been too crazy with rule breaking. Shit is starting to fall apart from it, so we have to waste energy to keep it together.

And is this enough of a waste of energy to hinder your usual work?

No, that will always be priority.

Ah, but somewhat related to the business of teams-- we need not be too concerned with your status, I hope?

[he might not care about the competition, but, well. if that's detrimental in other ways, then he wants to be aware.]

... being in last place itself doesn't hurt, but we're behind in ways more important than that. It's overall nova collection--there's a certain threshold that other teams have probably passed that we haven't yet, and if we don't catch up, it's probably going to be bad for us in the long run.

Another week of trying to encourage them to do so, then.

[well, he can factor that into the rule creation. he's had his personal space week, back to work.]

I had heard that others from different teams received the same notification as I did earlier, but in a previous week-- was that simply a threshold they reached sooner, as well?

Basically, yeah. This competition doesn't reward people on an individual basis--it's all team. Even if you're doing great, if the rest of your team is slacking, then you're still going to suffer for it.

[thanks, he looks very tired at that.]

Well, I will see if there is aught I may do, then. Some of them do keep going on about concepts like friendship and love, but I am sure it will come as no surprise that I hardly intend to go about encouraging them to hold hands.

I don't suppose you have discovered any more direct methods, either.

First, have you had any luck and figuring out who my hint was about?

Assuming they still live, yes. I thought Hansa to be likely, though did not have the time to get to Laine prior to his death... if Hua Cheng was being truthful about belonging to a different team and it was not Laine, then that narrows it down to one. Another I am working with already planned to exchange their affiliation with Hansa, so they will be confirming for me; I trust their word well enough.

[he was more comfortable sharing with another immortal first, naturally, and if he can find out while sharing with as few people as possible... well. of course he's doing that.]

Once you have the official confirmation, that should help.

And of course, given the current situation, I should ask again-- last week's experiment appears to have worked just as well as anticipated, but if you believe it would be detrimental to continue on to the original plan... I will take it under advisement. You have more insight into what may cause further disruption than I, or so I should hope.

I was considering him already, but particularly after the events of the weekend... qualify it as an urge to kill so that the young ones do not have to suffer it themselves, and I suspect he may be easier to push.

There are others I believe could be used, but he is foremost among them. Even should it fail, if he ends up admitting to the fact that he has this urge at all-- well. That can also be useful in other ways.

[if they want bonds, then what assists that more than turning to someone in distress? if they need a nudge, maybe it'll spur a little action on their parts to know someone was nearly pushed into murder.]

... I think that it'll at least be a useful test to do, regardless if it works or not.

And if that doesn't work on him, it would at least help you figure out that he'd be an unlikely murderer during future trials.

So it would. There are benefits regardless of its success or failure, I believe-- but then that is one matter decided. The other, I must consider further.

In the meantime... the concept was brought up of nova splintering. I would ask what you know of that, as well.

I haven't seen it happen personally yet, so I can't give a definite confirmation for it.

But I know it's been a thing since at least last week. And it does make sense, I guess. We knew that what Virid did fucked something up, but we couldn't figure out the full extent of it. This would line up with that.

And are you aware of precisely what this entails? I would much prefer to have the explanation from one of you, if there is one to be had.

Your memories would completely break--to the point where you won't be able to get them back, no matter how much nova we collect. There wouldn't be anything left of who you are, apparently.

It sounds like... I guess people are getting "infected" with this, so their own nova starts to splinter. And the only way to stop that from happening is to remove them from the Realm before it splinters entirely and then infects the next person.

Only if they break completely. There might be some side effects, but that would be hard to know for sure unless we were able to check.

I don't think there would be a way to stop it altogether when the Realm is already weak to everything else that's happening. It gets compared to a sickness a lot--you can't completely prevent yourself from catching a cold, but you can try to take up measures from getting even more sick.

Then if there is aught to be done to attempt to prevent it, I would know what those measures are.

[leaning forward slightly, arms folded on the table.]

I am the last living memory of a world which no longer exists. Not as we once knew it. Should the history which I have committed to memory be broken in such a manner, it would be lost completely to the universe, and that... that, I could not abide. A temporary loss is bearable, if galling, but I will not see this destroyed.
