Which is, of course, when a third blue figures blinks into existence. It goes to try to kick Clementine away from the group. Meanwhile, the one that's holding Lup, reaches with its free hand to poke at her gently, like it's curious? And by gently, I mean it's grapping her hand and pulling until something just--pops off. Her pointer finger, to be exact, is just pulled out entirely, and the only thing that stops it from pulling off more is that at that exact moment, Lup's dinosaur comes running in and tackles it.

[ Jeanne carefully holds Alphinaud and shifts her grip of him, so she's carrying him like a princess. She needs to find a place that is safe to set him down, away from all the blue beings. ]

[ Lup's dinosaur is doing an amazing job. The other two can be heard again, and they sound closer at least. They must have realized their owners are in distress.
But as everything just seems to grow more chaotic, something else happens. Or, more accurately, someone else does. The knife girl, who is now missing an arm, another chunk of torso, and half her head, reappears from the garden. How did she get there. But she walks over while everyone is distracted by either bleeding or getting kicked, and does what she does best.
Walk behind Jeanne and just shoves her bladed arm right through her. That's going to hurt, probably. ]
[ what freaks clem out the most about this is that she's missing half her head. also that she's talking. so she's not a walker?? JUST A STABBER????
she pushes herself up to get a good angle on the knife-girl. just ignoring the entity that kicked her for a second because she's too panicked about jeanne getting stabbed.
she's limited in where she can aim for without risking hitting jeanne, but she shoots at the knife girl! ]
[ Jeanne gasps as the bladed arm goes right through her, and she falls forward onto her knees from the shock and the sheer pain of it. Her breathing is unsteady, and so is her vision a little, but it's fine.
It's fine.
With all of her will, with what energy and strength she has left, she reaches behind to hold knife girl's arm and keep her still and so she can't attack anyone else other than her.
[ Alphinaud is USELESS RIGHT NOW but he'll fumble his way down over to Lup to make sure she is not Actually Dying, while the actually competent fighters do the fighting. ]
The girl is so focused on stabbing that she doesn't even look at Clementine. When Jeanne grabs her, she just smiles politely, like she's trying not to be too amused at Jeanne's attempts.
And then the bullet hits (rolls a dice, it's 18) her right through the heart. And, for once, she bleeds. Her expression on what's left of her face is confused for a moment, before she looks over at where Clementine is. And suddenly she's moving, ripping away from Jeanne, to charge at Clementine to give Cola what she wants finally I'm sorry. But at first, she just slashes at Clem's face, and then goes to stab her in the side. She tries to dig the blade in deep and then
The dinosaur just runs over and fucking swallows her. ]
[ i had to wait so long to be stabbed but it was worth it. clem fires once more at the knife girl as she dashes forward, but she's frantic because how the fuck can a person still be moving after that. she brings up an arm to block the slash to her face, but only manages to ensure it's a quick slash up her cheek.
and then gets stabbed in the side. she screams, but before she can even? try to shoot the girl again
she gets eaten by a dinosaur.
clem manages a vaguely hysterical laugh but really shouldn't have. she is bleeding a lot. ]
[ As the knife arm is ripped out of her, Jeanne falls forward and hits the ground, gasping. The pain is making her vision fade in and out, but she can't fall yet.
She can't falter yet. She will be okay. Even if hurts right now, she will be okay. (She's going to bleed the fuck out, but it's okay.)
She rises back up because she has to take care of the others—because the blue beings are still there, aren't they?

[ The king was watching all of this go down, staying out of the way after Jeanne and Clementine pushed her away. She's so focused on everything that just happened that she doesn't even notice Alphinaud coming towards her until he sinks the knife in.
At the exact moment the blow connects, Alphinaud, Lup, Jeanne, and Clementine will feel as if their heads are bout to burst open with pain. Every moment, both back home and in the Realm, of loneliness, doubt, boredom, insignificance, betrayal, anger, hurt--every time they felt that they've failed, or that they're not smart enough, or that everything in their life, is the opposite of everything they have ever wanted, rages inside them. Even moments they've forgotten in the Realm, even if they can't remember what the memory is, they can still feel the pain from it. All they can think of, and feel, is nothing but existential dread.
The king's body falls to the ground, and at the moment it hits the floor, the area they're in suddenly transforms into a classroom. The king is no longer there with them.
On one of the desk are four plain rings--orange, blue, purple, and green. There's nothing else there, but if they were to grab them, they'd know that the rings will let them transform into an animal for an hour. If they choose one of the six animals represented by the Leaders, there will be an added half hour to the total.
The classroom is silent. There's a door across the room, and if they open it and walk through it, they will find themselves on the bridge back in the town.
