Okay, so... personally, I don't see why they would lie about it. I'm not saying that there is no way they'd lie, for the record. Just that, going by what that person is like, it's more likely that they're being honest than not.
I just can't give you a definite answer on whether it's actually true.
To speak plain, I had hardly expected a definite answer. If anything, 'tis possible it clears up another matter. Would you say this means you and yours do not work as closely as I would have been led to believe?
We have rules, too. Ours are actually a lot more annoying than yours? It's pretty stupid?
But we basically can't discuss crap about you guys with each other, unless we know the other Leader is already aware of it. The rule was probably made for us to get into the spirit of competition, except then everything became way more fucking complicated, so now it's just screwing us over.
We can eavesdrop in our team members' conversations, except we can't eavesdrop in the conversation of other Leaders. That's actually how I first found out about this though. Someone else on my team was talking about it with someone from a different one.
Well, I suppose you have a way of getting it, at the very least.
Nevertheless, we should still have options available to us. 'Tis my hope that we both solve the matter of this splintering nova, while confronting the one giving the orders for these deaths.
[ Briefly, his brows raise, but Alphinaud's expression just as quickly settles back into something more neutral. ]
As you said, it has become a complicated matter. I know not enough of the nova to say what causes splintering, or what effects this may cause if it is left alone for long—however, we can determine they are dire, and not simply because I have been told so. Death is an efficient option if you wish to work quickly, but an extreme one to take. I can only assume the Leader in question holds the belief they have no other choices left to them.
Surely, this cannot be true. We must needs discover an alternative to dealing with this nova.
[ His eyes are downcast for a moment in thought. ]
It may very well be, in the end. I do not wish to needlessly sacrifice lives for a greater cause, however—I gave up that thinking long ago, and so first we must try.
If we cannot save those already affected, then there has to be a way to prevent it.
Well, first we'd need to figure out a way to even be able to spot it before it gets bad enough that the person in question must be removed. But from what it sounds like, they only saw signs of it very late.
Aye. That is where this will become difficult, for I could not tell you how to spot it when it is too late. I presume you cannot either—but there is someone here who can.
Seems like it. Although I think there's still a lot of people hiding information, so we might find out differently... but I'm not sure if everyone would be as willing to blab like Shima was.
[ Because that's what they need, people hiding information. ]
Frankly, I was surprised at how forthcoming he was. But—hm... About how well would you say approaching the Leader responsible would go? Surely they would know.
Honestly, I am pretty sure they expect people to go to them, so it's better if you try then don't. Just don't be surprised if they don't seem to want to talk about it, since they've probably gotten a bunch of people coming at them already.

Well, I can't say that this is definitely happening because I personally have not run into it yet. [ ... ] But I'm not saying it's not possible.

[ Alphinaud appears mildly surprised. ]
Curious. One of my other questions had involved why one of the Leaders were the one to make the order.

[ they shrug. ]
Do you know which Leader it is? Don't like, name them or anything, but just say yes or no.

Let us say, hypothetically, it is true then. They could easily do this again and again without your ever knowing?

[ they pop the p. ]

What do you think about all of it?

We need to be prepared for whatever option is thrown at us.
