[ Briefly, his brows raise, but Alphinaud's expression just as quickly settles back into something more neutral. ]
As you said, it has become a complicated matter. I know not enough of the nova to say what causes splintering, or what effects this may cause if it is left alone for long—however, we can determine they are dire, and not simply because I have been told so. Death is an efficient option if you wish to work quickly, but an extreme one to take. I can only assume the Leader in question holds the belief they have no other choices left to them.
Surely, this cannot be true. We must needs discover an alternative to dealing with this nova.
[ His eyes are downcast for a moment in thought. ]
It may very well be, in the end. I do not wish to needlessly sacrifice lives for a greater cause, however—I gave up that thinking long ago, and so first we must try.
If we cannot save those already affected, then there has to be a way to prevent it.
Well, first we'd need to figure out a way to even be able to spot it before it gets bad enough that the person in question must be removed. But from what it sounds like, they only saw signs of it very late.
Aye. That is where this will become difficult, for I could not tell you how to spot it when it is too late. I presume you cannot either—but there is someone here who can.
Seems like it. Although I think there's still a lot of people hiding information, so we might find out differently... but I'm not sure if everyone would be as willing to blab like Shima was.
[ Because that's what they need, people hiding information. ]
Frankly, I was surprised at how forthcoming he was. But—hm... About how well would you say approaching the Leader responsible would go? Surely they would know.
Honestly, I am pretty sure they expect people to go to them, so it's better if you try then don't. Just don't be surprised if they don't seem to want to talk about it, since they've probably gotten a bunch of people coming at them already.

What do you think about all of it?

[ even with their eyes covered, it's obvious they're studying his face. ]
We need to be prepared for whatever option is thrown at us.
