well, alex reacts in the way any normal person would —- she throws one of the pillows directly at what she hopes in the monster’s face. i hope that adrenaline spike makes her throw all the more impressive, but she’s not going to sit back and wait to see what happens because she’s immediately grabbing sora’s arm and
legging it towards the decontamination chamber like someone lit a fire directly under her ass ]
[oh. well shit that moves fast. he doesn't really need alex to tell him to run but she grabs his arm and they're off running, sora looking back just once to see where it is while holding onto his cheap shield and zipping toward the decontamination chamber.]
Head for the stairs and don't stop! We can lose it in the stairway! [probably. hopefully. just how likely is it that this monster's speed will catch up to the pace of two humans that still have another room to go through before they get downstairs?]
[ well alex might not be looking, but sora is, so he can see the thing spit what looks to be acid directly at the pillow! there are melted and burnt feathers everywhere now. so yes actually running is good because, while it almost looks surprised itself, it keeps going and is, uh, now aiming at them both. why's it so accurate.
also, probably worse, when they get to it they'll realize they need to pull out the finger to reopen the decontamination door from the inside too! i hope you kept it! and that you can do it very fast because it is gaining. ]
[ i believe sora has the fingie? please say he still has the fingie.
when they get to the decontamination door, alex is going to turn around and-- y'know like when people have a stressed budgie and they put a blanket over its head?
yeah.
she's gonna lob the duvet at the monster too. even if it can spit acid it's going to have to shred its way through or out of the blanket, so that's a few extra seconds of time. hopefully. ]
[unless the acid just melts the blanket immediately which is possible. regardless, they get to the door and sora's just trying to tuck his shield thing under his arm, shoving his hand in his pocket.]
Try to keep it busy! [fingie...fingie??? fingie! his "collect everything" mentality has come through because he does in fact have the fingie in his pocket still wrapped in the paper. god. screw it, forget the paper, he's just grabbing this gross finger and slapping it against the scanner to try and get the door open before the monster can reach them.]
[ I mean, it can see the blanket coming and it still has an arm, so. the good thing is alex makes sure it doesn't take a swipe at them, as sora's fumbling with his seventeen pilfered items means the thing catches up. They may not be fast enough to completely dodge the spray of acid it shoots as the door opens, though. It's aiming very wide, but... Roll for burn damage?
It burns through part of said door, leaving it partially open and only now making the finger useless. Thanks.
But it'll keep chasing them as they run downstairs, distracted with completely destroying the door for a second. ]
but the expected side effect of a monster spitting acid at them is... she's automatically going to be moving to try and shield sora because he is Younger Child shaped, so here's hoping ty didn't critical fail.
anyway with the door destroyed even if they are Injured-with-a-Capital-I, they're going to have to keep legging it down the stairs. maybe now's the time to fling some collected junk at the monster? ]
so they're safeish, able to dodge for the most part but likely getting a bit of backsplash from the acid due to its wide range. alex no!!!! his instinct is also to hold up the shield so i hope the acid just melted through that. minor acid burns? minor acid burns.
it's not enough to stop them though because, haha, the alternative is dying! granted now that his shield's essentially useless he's yeeting it at the monster, along with some of the old, useless syringes while he's locating the keycard. he's going to keep that in his hand until they get to the elevator, thank you!!!
how likely is that going to deter the monster so they can get downstairs?]
[ It works well enough, actually! It is mainly because being of unstable, asymmetrical form and sliding/melting off as you walk is not conducive to stairs or the turn on them, so it absolutely hits a wall, giving them a few precious seconds! Yay.
Anyway as established the elevator is already on that floor, so once they slam the button the doors will open... you know how when you're in a rush it feels like everything is happening in slow motion? this is that. but if they choose to squeeze through as soon as they can, and since sora has the key card ready, once he swipes that up all that they need to do is slam that door close button and the up one! Which I'm gonna be nice and assume they do, because it's late.
The monster does catch up as the door closes, and manages to sneak a claw in the slim opening of the elevator door, swiping in their direction... but the door closes on it and it turns to an odd, blue slime as the monster slams all the way into the elevator door from the other side.
A soothing elevator music starts to play as it starts going up. ]
[ wonderful. alex is just going to sink to the floor and press her face in her hands. i'm assuming she as a little splatter burn maybe on her leggies but y'know what.
she's alive. she actually still has a kid's plushie tucked in the crook of her arm.
[they would waste none time when it comes to getting in the elevator and swiping the card. as the door closes on the monster's claw and blue goo drips onto the floor of the elevator, sora sort of just stares at it before heaving a huge sigh of relief.
damn. he'll...he can't sink to the floor because he's convinced they're going to have to run when they get to the right floor, but he does crouch near alex. they both have little splatter burns on the leggies and that's going to be a problem for later.]
Are you okay? [he's not happy she jumped in the way and got herself hurt, but he can appreciate her efforts anyway.] We're almost out of here. It's alright.
[ zia turn on your location i just want to talk. ]
I've had better days.
[ at least she's honest. ] How about you, are you okay?
[ she'll keep herself crouched down but is just gonna have a lookie look around and she might as well note the lack of torso here. it was sora's first look at boobs so maybe he'll be emotional it's gone. ]
...
Where did that torso go? Did the monster come through here first...?
Up and up it goes, until it dings! and the doors open. There's a trail of purple goo on the floor, similar to what led them into this mess in the first place...
It... looks like the top floor of an executive building? There are floor to ceiling windows all around them, and the goo seems to be leading them to the glass doors of someone's very fancy office. No one needs a desk that big, right? Or a computer screen that big, for that matter. That is just a ridiculous size.
There's no sound here but their own echoing footsteps. It's probably fine. ]
then it's probably time to follow the goo trail, seeing as that seems to be the way to go. as they wander, alex will look out of the side windows -- can they see anything out there? is it similar to the view of that ruined city or is there anything else notable from this different vantage point?
once in the office, provided there's nothing about to chomp their faces is there anything of note other than the huge desk and computer screen? ]
[alex seems to have pretty much everything covered since she's looking at the ceiling and the windows while following the goo trail. so sora will also look around, keeping quiet just in case something tries to sneak up on them.
if alex is taking the side windows though, he'll look ahead as well. is there a window behind the desk as well? if there are any drawers of this desk, too, he'll see if he can open them.
...and then out of curiosity, is there a mouse and keyboard? he'll try to nudge the mouse to see if the screen will do anything and if it's still not on, he'll touch it.]
[ There's nothing on the ceiling, and nothing on the desk except a name plate they can't read. The ruined city still lies underneath them, though now in the darkness, from this side, Alex might spot something... like a ball of fire getting closer slowly? Hm.
There is a window behind the desk! It seems to lead to a helicopter landing pad.
Though now that Sora's walked behind it, he'll notice the computer chair the screen hid. And he might think that's a little more important than the screen, because there's a bloody sword stabbed through it, with blood on the chair itself, slowly dripping to pool underneath it and the desk. ]
oh. that looks.... concerning? she's going to get a little closer to squint at that ball of fire. can she see any details? is it just flame or is it flame and something also nasty? ]
Did you find anything around the desk?
[ she is going to turn around as she says this and. well.
sord.
interesting. she has zero sword fighting experience so sora can have fun with that -- she'll just quickly check under the desk where that blood is drippin'. anything there? ]
Just a giant sword. What's outside? [he says like it's no big deal. it's also probably not a giant sword, but how big is it? is there any sort of detailing on it? and also, he's going to take the sword for himself if that's possible.
haha. but while alex is checking out the chair and the desk, he'll glance at the monitor again. anything?]
[ It looks like flame and something nasty! Like a big rock. A big rock that is on fire.
it is not a giant sword. It's a normal two handed broad sword, a little on the long side with a purple handle. Sora can absolutely take it for himself!
There's nothing underneath the desk, and nothing on the monitor... but they will both hear footsteps coming from the doorway. Looking up, they'll see a very familiar silhouette--
Xehanort for Sora, and Barry for Alex. But the image flickers between both men and a third, monstrous form—seven feet wide with odd appendages coming out of its back, the building around them starting to flicker as well. Outside, the sky is turning red. The form speaks, in three different voices; both men who ruined countless lives and a third, distorted one that makes it nearly impossible to understand ]
It's like a... ball of fire? I don't think it was moving super fast, but I don't like the look of i--
[ and. well.
the saving grace here is that it isn't just barry's form she can see, it's three things flickering, and two of them she doesn't recognise. but for a moment she completely tenses up, breath going shallow and there's a real fear in her eyes but when barry's form flickers into something else the fear gains an edge of confusion, and then seems to die a little.
A meteor? [like he knows what the hell a meteor is and he's half-tempted to turn to the window, but his attention is taken away the moment someone appears in the doorway. at first, he sees xehanort and he immediately takes a defensive stance with the sword in his hands.]
You! Why are you here? [but then the form flickers to that of a man he doesn't recognize, and then a monster that's, frankly, a little more than disturbing.] What...?
[destiny...destiny is beyond man's control, but...?]
What do you want? [he's starting to back himself and alex toward the window though, just in case.] What did you do to our friends?
[...out of curiosity how far of a drop is the helipad from where they are? or is it like right outside?]
[ anyway the helipad is right behind them. now that they are looking. there's a glass door behind them in the middle of all these giant windows. the men/monster combo is walking towards them now, solidifying in their sight as one or the other. their voice doesn't change, though.
the meteor really decided to pick up speed huh. haha this is fine ]
[ she's already stepping backwards, and as soon as she next enough to the window... door, she'll be getting a hand on the handle and looking to see what's out there. is there, y'know.
a helicopter there? that'd be amazing. or something that looks like a way to not be in this place right now, with a meteor at their backs and a monster strolling towards them. ]
