GRAVEYARD

GRAVEYARD

Well, that sucked.

But no matter what your death was like—whether it was something peaceful or traumatic, you'll find yourself waking in a completely white room on the floor. Small and empty, there isn't anything else there besides an open door to walk through. But before you do that, you'll probably notice that whatever injuries you may have had, including whatever may have been the death blow, are now gone. That's exciting.

Stepping out of the room, it seems that you're in a large... house? with three different floors. Everything from floor, ceiling to furniture is completely white, except for the drawings that are plastered to the walls in each room. These are all colorful, drawn in colored pencils and crayon, and resemble a child's drawing. The other notable thing are the windows. While they're present all around the building, looking out of them only shows TV static. Besides that, everything is furnished with the absolute bare minimum of each room.

The first floor is all typical common areas one would find in a house. There's a kitchen, living room area, laundry room, dining room, and a main hallway where the stairs are. There are also helpful drawings in these rooms that show the rooms much more lavishly decorated than they actually are. There's a door that appears to be the way to exit the building, but it leads you to somewhere that's not the front lawn.

The second floor consists of nothing but twenty bedrooms. Each room has one queen sized bed, an empty dresser, and an attached bathroom with only a sink, toilet, and shower. Like the first floor, each bedroom has drawn pictures that show it looking much more lavish than it actually does. Thanks for nothing, artist!

The third floor only has two rooms. One appears to be a home office with nothing but a desk and two chairs, one behind it and one in front of it. On the desk are some blank pieces of paper along with crayons, as well as a written note next to them that says PLEASE DRAW THE PREFERRED ANIMAL :). It looks like this is how you ask for a meeting with a Leader.

The other room is much larger, and it's completely empty save for the many drawings lining its walls— in fact, the walls are covered in them, much more than in any other room. On closer inspection, though, it seems like these aren't actually drawings? The papers seem to be showing scenes from the living area. Everything from inside the hotel to the areas beyond the bridge are visible here. However, when curfew hits on Thursday nights, they revert to being normal drawings! Except for the fact that they're all drawings of stick figures being murdered in various ways.

Well. At least there's plenty of things to draw with, if you get bored.

As of Week 3, each person has the ability to send messages on their PHS unlocked.

[That isn't the first time Laine's heard that very specific description, "nova splintering", but she doesn't need an interrogation right now.]

Everyone who was "removed from the Realm" is here, and we're all safe. Is there someone you were hoping to see?

[personal profile] siblingless 2020-10-26 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Not at all. Please don't take this the wrong way, but... There is no one I would hope to see in a place like this.

[Because, you know, it's a very exclusive club and y'all gotta die to join.]

[personal profile] tensecondsahead 2020-10-26 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[He laughs, and pats her on the head one more time before pulling his hand back.]

I was thinking more about anyone who's already here.

[personal profile] siblingless 2020-10-26 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... Though the, ah, circumstances aren't the best, I am glad to see everyone again.

[personal profile] tensecondsahead 2020-10-26 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Your "circumstances" sounded pretty bad. What happened?
siblingless: (125)

[personal profile] siblingless 2020-10-26 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[That earns him a look of confusion. Bad??]

My nova splintered. I knew what it meant, and that I would become a danger to everyone if I was allowed to live, so... I cooperated with the person who was sent to take care of me. [A beat.] What do you mean, "pretty bad?"
tensecondsahead: (9)

[personal profile] tensecondsahead 2020-10-26 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
First why don't you explain what you mean by "nova splintering".
siblingless: (105)

[personal profile] siblingless 2020-10-26 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Is this your first time hearing about it...? [Someone, please give the dead more info.] If someone's nova begins to splinter, and they're left unchecked, they'll become a danger to everyone else. Think of it as, ah... a ticking time bomb. I think? I'm sorry. It's why Ichinose-san, Cater-san, you and myself had to be removed.

[personal profile] tensecondsahead 2020-10-26 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I've heard of it before. But this is the first time I've heard of anyone identifying it in themselves. How did you know your nova was splintering?
siblingless: (144)

[personal profile] siblingless 2020-10-26 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I felt... wrong. Everything was fuzzy, and I had a hard time remembering some things that night. [She says this, but mods said we could go the drama route to make it happen. It's fine. YMMV.] I thought it was because of my injuries, but Carré-san confirmed it for me when we realized we were both awake after midnight.

[GLANCES AT HIS "removed for forgetting it was die day" DEATHSHAMING SIGN]

... that explains some things.
siblingless: (014)

[personal profile] siblingless 2020-10-26 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
... You experienced something similar as well, huh?

[SYMPATHETICALLY. Sorry, Laine.]
tensecondsahead: (9)

[personal profile] tensecondsahead 2020-10-26 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately.

But from what he's said, Shima wasn't really planning on killing me, it was a crime of opportunity. [Do we trust Shima? Of course not.]

[personal profile] siblingless 2020-10-26 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh?

[She seems surprised by that.]

But... He told me Fox-san approached him on Wednesday. Why would he change his story?
tensecondsahead: (45)

[personal profile] tensecondsahead 2020-10-26 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
That's probably more accurate. He seems like the kind of person who doesn't give much away unless he has to.
siblingless: (014)

[personal profile] siblingless 2020-10-26 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[... SHE SIGHS.]

I'll ask him for clarification. Thank you, Brick-san.
tensecondsahead: (2)

[personal profile] tensecondsahead 2020-10-26 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
... [He missed all the "Brick-san" stuff at the trial.]

Oh, no it's just Laine, or "Laine Brick" if you're being formal.

[And then, because she seems like she might care about this:] The second name is an auxiliary identifier for formal occasions or if there's potential confusion between two individuals with the same base name. But we don't really use family and given names like earthlings do.
siblingless: (118)

[personal profile] siblingless 2020-10-26 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! I'm sorry, I shouldn't have assumed.

[A little bow, apologetic.]

Then, um... Laine-san. Is that alright?
tensecondsahead: (49)

[personal profile] tensecondsahead 2020-10-26 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
You don't have to apologize to me. I think everyone assumes their culture's naming conventions are the standard, I was pretty rude to a lot of people before I figured it out.

"Laine-san" is exactly right.
siblingless: (112)

[personal profile] siblingless 2020-10-26 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Then, Laine-san it is.

[Clapping her hands! Still sniffling a bit.]

If you don't mind returning to our previous subject, though... Um, what did you mean by what you said?
tensecondsahead: (67)

[personal profile] tensecondsahead 2020-10-26 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Your "removal from the Realm" sounded like it was pretty messy. But if you don't know what I'm talking about, it must not have been that bad for you.
siblingless: (030)

[personal profile] siblingless 2020-10-29 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
[She frowns, looking a bit confused.]

... I don't know what you saw, but it wasn't bad at all. Carré-san was very kind to me, and I was the one who made it seem like I had fought my killer.

[personal profile] tensecondsahead 2020-10-31 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
That's good to know. She must have made a mess of it afterwards, to throw people off.
