She really never got Usagi lore... She got a tiny tiny bit injury week, but I was dead in real life, and it was just not enough for Clementine to draw ACCURATE CONCLUSIONS from. Forgive her...
Basically: Once Clem wrapped her head around "oh everyone is from different worlds" then she was a lot less judgmental of people who seemed... Less equipped for the situation? So that's where she pretty much rested with Usagi. Usagi seemed like a cute, ordinary girl, and Clem could understand why she would just want to sleep through trials and why she would just scream and cry when things happened. Because, like. Valid?
They weren't close, but as per Clementine being a liar who says she's pragmatic and doesn't care about anyone, she would definitely try hard to protect Usagi however she could if the situation arose again.
AND THEN THE USAGI LORE SHE GOT WAS THAT SHE'D BEEN STABBED COMMITING SUICIDE TO BE WITH HER LOVER AND CLEM WAS JUST LIKE "..... Ah............ ok........" Sounds very sad! Can't relate! Can't really make sense of the scenario! But there's clearly a lot more to Usagi than she got to know - like she definitely thinks Usagi has a hidden side that's more than Clem ever saw. Not in a distrusting way, just in a "Clem perpetually underestimated people and later was like o: about it" way.
