imagine if I wrote that and nothing else. I WAS HONESTLY TRUELY CROSS MY HEART GOING TO GIVE YOU THAT CR CHART BUT I WAS EXHAUSTED AND THEN TIME PASSED and then I went oh... and I felt awkward about it... and then it just stayed like that forever...

anyways what Kano told Izumo in trial was the crux of what that entry was going to be anyways, that Izumo immediately and absolutely reminded him of his adoptive sister who he has mad dokis for so know that the entire two weeks I haunted you this was what haunted me. If there is one single thing that biases Kano, it's people who reminds him of his family and that was Izumo aka Kido 2.0, where both of them are very very brash and abrasive and foul tempered people who do not hesitate in calling Kano out on his shit, but they are also secretly very soft and tsun and the most caring people that Kano knows and the fact that he got to see this side of Izumo too made Kano go oh ): because now he is doomed. He bullied Izumo a lot because that's how he interacts with his sister in canon ): He makes fun of her and flirts with her for the reaction because he is an elementary schooler at heart and that's what you do to girls you like ): Izumo was very fun to tease........... she was very tsun and Kano was constantly delighted................... very good yelling reactions, very easy to become endeared, and like he mentions to her later, this sort of interaction made him feel so much at home. None of it was fair- he knew he was seeing his sister in Izumo, he knew that he was frustrating to her, and that while he can ensure time with him isn't a boring experience, he can't say that they are positive ones- but this is the sort of interaction he is most comfortable with and loves and misses because he is so damned homesick all the time. Time with Izumo was the only time he was not homesick and the rest of his time here he just quietly pined for his brother and sister... The week 0 memory Kano lost was also his sister's name and face, so he just doubly went "oh no" whenever he and Izumo interacted and he projects hard and then hates himself for having to substitute Izumo to fill this gaping hole in his heart. He really did love her a lot and if 1) he did not die and 2) he had forgotten about his sister completely, it would have been a lot more real than how it turned out, him recognizing that this feeling is partly because of his sister and therefore it is unfair to Izumo and therefore he will never pursue the feeling. He could not bring himself to tell her he loves her in their last conversation but "you're important to me" meant a lot more than love to him anyways because importance is something that is wholly his own and does not need to be reciprocated, so he could leave and die and that would be the end of it.

He kept running at endgame but that's because I had to go track something down and never got around to poking people oocly BUT HE WAS GOING TO GIVE HER HER KIMONO BACK EVEN THOUGH SHE HATES IT AND NEVER WANTS TO SEE IT AGAIN that was it, I don't know what happened to it, just before he died, he packed up her kimono along with some other things that were important to him— the galaxy rocks, four keychains spelling out his brother's name bc he did not want to forget his name along with his sister's, and another keychain to represent his sister- it was a box and everything left that was important to him and he asked Sora and Yona to keep it safe and then idk what happened to it, presumably it sat around for the next month and a half and presumably Kano gets it back? presumably Izumo gets it back... but anyways... Kano originally took the kimono bc it is pretty and kimonos are expensive and it would be a waste to throw it away when he could take it home and his sister would probably be very happy to have something like that, yeah, that was it. Recycling is good for the earth. But she made such a big deal about it that part of him was just obstinate bc he was curious as to why she hated it so much that she wanted it destroyed completely and absolutely and not just gone from her sight. To hate something so much, it has to important, even if it isn't a good important, and important things shouldn't be discarded- Izumo had obviously just come from the aftermath of something very dangerous and serious and shedding the kimono she was bound in seemed to Kano a visceral reaction to getting rid of the circumstances she was just in. He thought that if she calmed down later, got to process things later, came to terms to things later, she might really regret destroying this kimono that may be important. So he kept the kimono for the sake of that maybe. He doesn't know!!!! But she had called it useless and he thought of his mother throwing things away and calling them useless and thought of himself who he always considers useless and went "maybe I want to save this useless thing" that cannot be himself but he can make an effort for an object. The kimono was a metaphor for himself or something FUCK IF I KNOW, I WAS VERY TIRED ALL THE TIME NARU

instead I'm going to pull up threads and talk about their conversations I guess bc they had a lot of stupid conversations and a lot of very good conversations and while Kano would've hesitated to show her the tired, exhausted doomsday Kano he showed some other people and believes to be his "real" self, being with Izumo allowed him to be more "real" in the sense of acting like a normal kid, the sort of person he could have been if he did not have the circumstances he does hanging over his head. A lot of that is due to how Izumo responded to him- like, when he teases other people, they grow tired of his shit very quickly and push him away, but Izumo got tired of his shit very quickly but continued to engage him, which was very encouraging and sometimes he would be a little more genuine and she would respond seriously and sometimes he would joke around and she would throw hissy fit and what Kano does with people is test the waters with his conversations and the most important thing to him is that people do not walk away, essentially giving up on him. Kano was usually the one to run away... because he is a coward... anyways... Izumo engages with his nonsense and Kano never felt like he was being pushed away despite being yelled at all the time, so that was all very good for his heart.

I found the thread where Izumo offered to do something else to distract Kano from stealing her kimono and they're talking about new experiences and things and some of that was Kano never having gone to school nor having the chance to make friends because of that, so he hoped Izumo, who is a Good Girl, could have all those anime opportunities of hanging out with friends and eating bento on the rooftop and all these things even though he can tell she isn't the type to be so keen on it- but he thinks of his sister who also isn't good around groups of people or putting herself out there but also secretly desires friends, and how both of them hide their kindness and the fact that they like cute things and act all tough to cover it up and he's just "hm" He didn't think she would voice it outright so he basically twisted her arm into having rooftop bento I'm sorry. Anyways she was also the one to mention jumping off buildings as an experience that most people do that she hasn't and I went "oh" bc in later threads Kano was strangely fixated on jumping off roofs but for the life of me I could not remember how that came to be, who planted this in my head, and it was Izumo /: It's fine. They had a cute bento thread. Kano got to eat somebody else's cooking, made just for them, it was just like being home. There was a brief touch on being left behind following somebody else's death but Kano quickly withdrew after Izumo clammed up bc he would not want anybody to pry if he were in her shoes either, and if there is one thing he's good for, it's distraction and pulling people's attention away from painful things they don't want to think about, and then I had to fucking talk about ketchup for the next thirty comments.

He lost at chicken, Naru, I'm crying staring at this thread that I was so mortified about that the only way I could save myself was by sacrificing Kano and throwing him down the stairs and for the rest of the game he would constantly bite at his lip over the scar that this left him whenever he's troubled and remember the one time somebody hurt him by accident and not only apologized but actually went out of their way to give him something that would help, because the pain grounds him but there is also the thought of somebody who cared once upon a time. He never used the lip balm asdflkjh maybe it got left behind at trial maybe he has it with him somewhere after dying I don't know but he never used it bc if he used it then it's gone but if he doesn't use it then he can keep it forever as a reminder, yeah. But she followed through for him... she took him seriously as a person... he's just "oh..." This is basically one of the only times in his life he felt cared about as a person outside of his own family so he's just very "oh..."

Some people keep trying to restrain themselves and force themselves to have patience around Kano and give him a chance and he really didn't want that, so he appreciated a lot that Izumo would yell at him whenever he's being stupid, he did not have to guess how much he could push or when to back off bc he gets immediate feedback and this made conversation easy on Kano's side of things, it made it comfortable for him, and it was not exhausting talking to Izumo like it was for almost everybody else he felt like he had to tiptoe around. Part of why he liked Izumo so much is that she did not compromise who she is as a person for his sake- she did not change who she is and she was always herself towards him and he appreciated that so so much. He rejected so hard people who came up to him trying to be the better person bc he does not feel like he deserves to be treated well, so when Izumo said that all she does is yell at him and be mean to him all he can say is "yeah" he appreciated that openness more than kindness, he appreciates people calling him out on his lies and he appreciates people putting their foot down when he's out of line. So much of his life has been spent spinning lies to the point of absurdity, but people tire of him and turn away and decide he is not worth engaging, and that's what he'd gotten used to instead of people standing toe to toe with him like Izumo did.

He sent Izumo a letter the first chance he got but did not get one in return so he just went ): for the rest of the game bc he did not realize that maybe messages were a team privilege that had to be unlocked asfdlkhj THAT LETTER WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FOR HER EYES ONLY THOUGH KANO HAD SENT HIS FIRST LETTERS THINKING THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE SHARED BC THE CONCEPT OF HAVING FRIENDS TO SHARE THEM WITH IS COMPLETELY FOREIGN TO HIM AAAAAAAAAAAAAA I'm crying, the letter he sent to Sora was actual plot info that he encoded so he could give Sora encouragement while at the same time sneaking in some plot, but Izumo's was not supposed to be shared....... it was him trying to explain Kagerou things....... it was him saying that he tried to kill Jeanne bc if both she and him die, his soul would be taken and Jeanne's would be returned along with a wish, and Jeanne's wish is one that would save them and they wouldn't have to suffer through the rest of this game... This was his week 1 assumption according to how death works in his canon, that's all it was, Izumo was the only person he explained his behavior to regarding the sudden flip to murder during that execution, because she was the only person he cared about explaining himself to so she wouldn't think he was some crazy out-of-his-mind murderer after all. If somewhere along the way this became "two people must die each time a curfew murder happens" I am SO sorry. "Evening calm" was supposed to be like... "I know everything is overwhelming and scary right now but take a deep breath and center yourself and know that things will be okay" and also the hope that she would rather die than have to explain evening calm to anybody else and thus would not show anybody else this letter. Anyways it didn't translate.

I reread my post-trial charades but I have no fucking clue what any of that was supposed to mean anymore but Izumo interpreting it as him asking her to smile endlessly delighted me and also Kano. I think him fake punching the barrier was supposed to mean for Izumo to keep on fighting but I can't figure out what wiggling fingers mean in accordance to that, and also the fact that I said the shoulder and chest tapping and cheek poking was all supposed to mean the same concept. Anyways! it doesn't matter, Kano died, the end, he would have been glad if the last time he saw Izumo face to face before his death, it is something lighthearted and silly and he got to see her smile however forced it is

I really do think that if Kano hadn't died, having this cr would have made him into a genuinely happier person as the game went on, but instead things happened and he died and spent the rest of the game being bitter and petty haha;; also I held out all game hoping to hear mention of Izumo saying wowee but it did not happen, Kano was really hoping she'd become more comfortable around people enough that she'd say silly things like this but maybe the wowee bar was too high, maybe nobody in their right mind would ever use that word and also I originally had to google whether that's even a real word that exists bc I doubted it so much.
