GRAVEYARD 2.0
GRAVEYARD Well, that sucked. But no matter what your death was like—whether it was something peaceful or traumatic, you'll find yourself waking in a completely white room on the floor. Small and empty, there isn't anything else there besides an open door to walk through. But before you do that, you'll probably notice that whatever injuries you may have had, including whatever may have been the death blow, are now gone. That's exciting. Stepping out of the room, it seems that you're in a large... house? with three different floors. Everything from floor, ceiling to furniture is completely white, except for the drawings that are plastered to the walls in each room. These are all colorful, drawn in colored pencils and crayon, and resemble a child's drawing. The other notable thing are the windows. While they're present all around the building, looking out of them only shows TV static. Besides that, everything is furnished with the absolute bare minimum of each room. The first floor is all typical common areas one would find in a house. There's a kitchen, living room area, laundry room, dining room, and a main hallway where the stairs are. There are also helpful drawings in these rooms that show the rooms much more lavishly decorated than they actually are. There's a door that appears to be the way to exit the building, it's locked. The second floor consists of nothing but twenty bedrooms. Each room has one queen sized bed, an empty dresser, and an attached bathroom with only a sink, toilet, and shower. Like the first floor, each bedroom has drawn pictures that show it looking much more lavish than it actually does. Thanks for nothing, artist! The third floor only has two rooms. One appears to be a home office with nothing but a desk and two chairs, one behind it and one in front of it. While there's blank pieces of paper and crayons on the desk, the note that was previously there is gone. The other room is much larger, and it's completely empty save for the many drawings lining its walls— in fact, the walls are covered in them, much more than in any other room. On closer inspection, though, it seems like these aren't actually drawings? The papers seem to be showing scenes from the living area. Everything from inside the hotel to the areas beyond the bridge are visible here. However, when curfew hits on Thursday nights, they revert to being normal drawings! Except for the fact that they're all drawings of stick figures being murdered in various ways. Well. At least there's plenty of things to draw with, if you get bored. Also, a handy link to the previous post. |

[ The vast expanse suddenly seems familiar somehow. He feels like he'd go to war to defend it. Like he has gone to war to defend it. ]
What about the voice, then? What's that about?
no subject
[There's a shimmer of static, their perspective changing, as their feet meet solid ground on a cliffside overlooking the sea. What appears to be a boy of about ten stands in front of them, hair the color of lilacs, adorned with a jeweled tiara and robes that billow onto the ground, a staff that stands nearly twice his height. When he speaks, it's a voice far more mature than a child, weight in the words, speaking more as a distant memory than to them directly.
"Princess Emeraude is the one who summoned you here. Cefiro is in great danger, and fulfilling the legend of her Magic Knights is the only way to help save this land."
Hikaru only nods, her eyes growing tired and a little hard to read, before glancing up at Bucky.]
Cefiro is a land of belief. Our will alone can't bring us back to where we came from. And Emeraude, who brought us here... she's the Pillar. The person with the strongest will, the strongest heart, of anybody else here. Someone's taken her away, kept her from her prayers, and now this world is filled with war and monsters, and the people are afraid.
We can't go home, Vezda-san, until we complete our task. I can count on you for that, right?
no subject
He sighs and crosses his arms because of course "walk through a portal" couldn't be easy. Of course there's some nonsense quest that has to happen first. ]
Sure. So, what is it, save this Emeraude lady and bring her back here?
no subject
[There's a third figure next to them, someone gentle and caring and fussy. The Realm, finding no one to occupy the space from Hikaru's memory, instead reaches into Bucky's mind, trying to fill the space with someone he knows well, someone compassionate.
As Hikaru keeps talking, the robed boy unleashes a spell, and Bucky will feel a warmth enter the pit of his chest, deep and passionate, something he can almost put into words as it stretches to the tips of his fingers. Weird. Hikaru doesn't seem to react, looking almost nostalgic at the change.]
Emeraude's been hidden away. Her High Priest, Sol Zagato, was the last person with her, and he's defeated everyone in Cefiro that has bothered to try and rescue her.
[Her hands curl against her chest.]
So if we find him, we find Emeraude, we find our way to save Cefiro... and then we can go home.
no subject
Whoa, hang on, what the hell did this kid just do to me?
[ it...feels kind of nice, honestly, but it is also deeply foreign. ]
no subject
It's just magic. Use it to defend yourselves. When you need to use it, your heart will tell you the words, okay?
no subject
Alright, fine. So where do we find this Sol Zogato guy anyway?
no subject
[Time warps, as though tipping on its side. They obtain weapons. They go through trials. They fight foes, fight each other, fight themselves in the depths of darkness. And one by one, they each earn a Mashin at their side, a spirit in physical form, that transform into giant robots that stand hundreds of feet tall the second they've achieved their potential. Congrats, you get the tl;dr of that journey because that sure isn't what this seems to be about!!!! But the three of them have stuck together, have saved one another. They want to go home. They want to be heroes. They want to save someone who needs to be saved, save a land that needs to be rescued, and go home as their reward.
They're so close.
By now, Steve is flickering in and out, sometimes himself, sometimes a girl that looks just a little older than Hikaru, with short yellow hair in a bob, quiet and introspective. This doesn't seem strange to Hikaru at all, though she can never quite call the person by name.
There's an odd feeling as the Mashin call to them, as beams of light surround the three and seemingly teleport them to rest in an almost invisible bubble. It feels almost like flying, where they can see and interact with one another. But they will have an instinctive realization that they are inside the mashin, piloting the robots without having to even think about it. Congrats, they can fly now. Neato.
Hikaru's demeanor has darkened considerably by now, immediately taking a glance towards that wonderful blue sky.]
This is it, then. If we find Zagato, then maybe Emeraude shouldn't be far behind.
no subject
But by the time they're inside the Mashin, it's almost become routine. Pedestrian. ]
That's a whole lot of ifs, maybes, and shoulds.
[ What's with the uncertainty? (What's with the sour mood, Hikaru?) ]
no subject
Do you ever just feel like you're having a really weird case of dejavu?
[Not!Steve suggest they still have a job to complete, regardless of their uncertainties or mood. Hikaru nods, a little sheepish.]
Yeah. [She points directly upward.] He's waiting for us, up there.
no subject
Well? What are we waiting for, then? Let's go!
no subject
It... looks like them?]
It's a reflection. [Her voice is even, like she's reliving a dream she's had a thousand times before.] It's been a mirror this entire time. Not the sky.
[Her hands draw close to herself, flames flickering to life before turning to bolts of electricity, white hot and bundling up into a spell between her hands.]
We're gonna need all three of us working together to break this! Be ready! Zagato is waiting right behind this barrier!
[You don't need to tell Steve twice! He's on catsostrophic wind duty. Did I ever say Bucky has water magic? He has water magic. Time to make a hurricane in your hands, Bucky.]
no subject
He forces a veritable torrent of water to pound against the mirror with as much force as he can muster. This feels deeply normal to him now but damn if he isn't going to wish he could appreciate the novelty of this later. ]
no subject
And, between them and that castle, stands a fourth mashin, with a young man at its helm. He addresses them as the Magic Knights, and when Steve asked where the fuck he got another Mashin, Zagato's eyes narrow with a smile.
"I forged it with my own will, all so I could destroy you Magic Knights with my bare hands!!"
They then proceed to get their asses kicked pretty heavily. Final boss and all. Hope you enjoy getting beaten to smithereens, Bucky.]
no subject
Of course, in those cases he's usually just holding out until reinforcements can show up, and he's not so sure those are coming this time. So maybe he's a little shaky getting back up on his feet (or, like, metaphorical feet, I guess, since they're all in giant robots).
But it doesn't matter. Because he's always gonna get back up, and always dish out more, and take more. Bring it the fuck on, Zagato, he's not going down that easy. ]
no subject
Why is Zagato doing this, Steve-who-is-not-steve yells out. The Pillar has to pray for the world or the world will fall apart. Why would Zagato rip something like that away when it would destroy everything, including himself?
Zagato's face draws into something bitter.
The Pillar can only pray for one thing, and one thing alone. But she has no freedom. Why must that be her fate? Why must she live her life chained as your precious Pillar???
His attacks only increase in strength at his fury. If they do not win, if they do not strike him down completely, they will all be wiped out.
Hikaru finds them, as battered and bloodied as she now is, and she grips them by the hands, and her eyes are filled with a pained, horrible regret.]
We have to triumph.
no subject
Is that true? That she's forced to pray and has no pick in what it is?
no subject
Here comes the Zagato train, though. Either they attack, or they die, and Zagato does not seem in the mood to talk any further.]
no subject
If he has to fight to survive, though, then so be it. If what Zagato's saying is true, then even if they defeat him, Vezda will personally make sure that this Pillar gets a proper happy ending. ]
no subject
It is very hard to block magical explosions, unfortunately. They are dying. They will die, under this man's sword, without action.
The desire to survive overtakes everything else. The three of them join together, a spiral of light cast against Zagato, which tears him apart at the seams.
From deep within his bones, Bucky feels he could very well hear a little girl screaming in agony. But it's there and gone, and all that's left behind is Zagato's sword.]
We've done it.
[Hikaru is subdued, taking note of the sword, no pride in her words. But she still tries to shoot the others a smile.]
Let's go find her, Vezda-san. Let's go find Princess Emeraude. She'll be waiting for us in the castle.
no subject
He nods to Hikaru and sets off for the castle. ]
no subject
Princess Emeraude...
[The woman nods. Not!Steve sounds confused. No, they'd seen visions of Emeraude before now, as a little girl, not like this. She simply shakes her head.
I am Emeraude of Cefiro.]
...
Emeraude... I...
...
We did as we were asked. Guru Clef and Presea, they helped us awaken the Mashin to come find you, to free you and save this land.
[...Zagato?
It sounds like a question, but she turns to Bucky as though she expects him to answer it.
Did you find Zagato?]
no subject
He faces her expectant expression and just...nods. He's not one to sugarcoat things. ]
Gone. Defeated.
no subject
Hikaru's hands tighten at her sides as she flinches away.. Not!Steve looks towards Bucky. This doesn't look good.
You... are the ones who killed Zagato?
There's the start of tears from her otherwise stony face, before the ground around them knocks them back with a shockwave of force, sending them all flying.
YOU KILLED MY BELOVED ZAGATO??
I HATE YOU!
The castle floor starts to give out as a fifth mashin arises from seemingly nowhere, a white mannequin like face with the beast of a horse. Not that they can see it all that well right this second, because, you know, the floor is completely being destroyed, as is the rest of the castle.
Help??]
no subject
She went willingly with Zagato--or this was her plan and he helped--or this was mutually planned, between lovers.
He has no idea how to fix this. He thinks, maybe he can't. All he can think about now is defending himself, even if it means going on the offense against the very person they came here to save. ]
