[ claude will receive a message on their phs telling him to head to the bridge!
assuming he does so, he'll find fox there, leaning on the railing as they look out to the river. as he approaches, they properly stand back up to turn and look at him, smiling politely. ]
That's too bad. (Truly, a shame. Ahem,) I'm sure the person responsible learned a valuable lesson from the experience.
(And won't do it again!!)
Anyway, I was wondering... how much of this is, well, real? (Hear him out!!) I mean, this is all pretty fantastic to take in and if I didn't know any better, I would think this was all one really elaborate dream.
But there are some things that don't make sense. Files filled with nothing but blank papers and... computers? "Computers" that don't work. Not to mention an entire castle we can't seem to reach... It feels like some things are just here for show.
Trust me, I wonder each day if I'm having a very lucid dream.
[ they really do not disagree that this all seems fantastical. ]
Most of the setting [ they gesture around them ] isn't our doing, so there's only so much we know. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of it really is just for show, manifested from people's memories of their homes.
Maybe that, or maybe the Realm didn't have the power to copy everything. It could have also gone with what's common to many of you. I'm familiar with computers, for instance, but I take it you aren't?
Correct. It's my first time seeing anything like that. Actually, the same goes for a lot of things here.
(Microwaves, for example.)
Next, you've already said you don't know how long we'll be here and you don't know how long we have. You claim you arrived here just a few days before us... did you really give up your memories for us? For people you hadn't even met yet?
(Of course, they'd answered it enough times the day before,)
Oh, I wouldn't be so quick to put it in such a grandiose way. For all you know, I could've done it for a taste of power.
[ though their tone is maybe a bit too frivolous for that to be a serious suggestion. who knows? their hand on the bridge railing, fox taps their index finger against its surface. tap. tap.
their tone doesn't quite lose its upbeat nature, though it's more thoughtful. ]
... Strange, really. I suppose the irony of such drastic amnesia is that it actually makes it harder to notice what's gone. After all, you notice most what you're "missing" when something else is present to emphasize its absence. Isn't that what sparks loneliness, envy, etc.?
I couldn't begin to guess what I've lost--good or bad--so I don't know what to feel about it.
(He's not going to judge anyone just for doing what they have to to seize a little bit of power. Well, depending on the methods, of course.
As Fox speaks, Claude is quiet, thoughtful, and listening. It makes sense. To suddenly lose most (all?) of your memories would have to feel like something. What would it be like waking up with no idea who you were? Where you were from or what your dreams were?
... It makes him uncomfortable and he shifts slightly from one foot to the next,)
It's a strange position but I don't envy you one bit. Is there anything you remember at all? Or is it really just all gone?
(Is the same thing going to happen to them eventually?)
I remember that I'm human, and my age. Also, we remember general concepts that we presumably had before our amnesia. [ lightly, ] You may have noticed that only one of the Leaders struggles with technology.
Tell you what: if you can correctly guess within three tries, I'll do you a favour. [ they say as if they couldn't do a favour (see: taako's cake) without putting conditions on it, but you know. ] Within my means, of course.
week 0, monday

What can I do for you?
no subject
... It really worked. (Wishing, that is. Color him surprised.) Some answers, hopefully.
Thanks for meeting me, by the way.
(And while he doesn't exactly bow, he'll raise a hand to his chest in gratitude.)
First things first... what are you and your friends doing this week?Keeping busy?
no subject
Yes. With things like fixing the microwave, for one.
[ yeah. fox knows what you did, claude. ]

(This is all a lot!)
... And not everyone remembers every little detail so it would make sense for some things to be missing. Is that right?
(Maybe? Is he reading into this too much. Is he even reading?)

[ goat, ]
That's pretty much it.
no subject
(he noticed how the information in the profile was worded.)
no subject
Well now.
How old do you think I am?
no subject
(Which doesn't answer much!)
no subject
Remarkable powers of observation.
no subject
You're not one of those people that's actually a couple hundred years old are you? We got a few of those here.

(BUT OKAY... let's see... Claude's just going to size of Fox! See how their height compares to his. Taller? Shorter?)
no subject
[ fox is just slightly shorter. ]
no subject
(Starting off the same as him! Maybe they're around the same age hmmmm.)
no subject
[ that's a no, and also a hint. ]
no subject
A hint! How generous. (A hand on his hip, he taps one finger at his side,) Hmm... twenty-four.
no subject
You're getting there, but not quite. One more guess! β
no subject
(IT'S NOT LOOKING GOOD but this is fine, )
Twenty... six?
(Hm.)
no subject
[ a grin ]
Still, as a reward for your efforts, I'll consider granting half a favour. [ whatever 0.5 of a favour means ] So, ask away.
