Hm... I'd be really surprised if he did. We all only found out you could afterwards, and I'm really not sure how someone would have learned about it beforehand. Basically we... had to experience the death, to find out you could get nova from it.

The Realm, I guess, although it's a little more complicated than just that... it's not like it's simply writing rules for us like people do. The rules are being made based on what's occurring here. It's why they can be amended at any time.
I think that analogy works, yes. It doesn't normally deal with people directly, so it's learning how to handle us as it goes... which doesn't always work in our favor.
