[ . . . . he smiles a little bit at that]

.... my own Leader seemed to be in a bit of a state yesterday, so I'm afraid I don't know if I can entirely believe that but....

Are you recovering well then? Getting a chance to rest?

[retellers]

[ they scratch the back of their head. ]

... it's been pretty busy, but I've been doing my best, yes.

[ that wasn't what he asked but okay. ]

[recrowns]

[ . . . . ]

Well, thank you for doing your best.

And making time still to see me amidst all of it.

[retellers]

I'll always try to see you if I'm able.

Are you doing okay?

[recrowns]

Hmm.... I suppose as well as I can be. The memory I lost this week is a bit more... inconvenient than I'd like.

But it's nothing that I can't live without, at least temporarily.

[retellers]

[ oh... they frown. ]

I'm sorry about that. It must be difficult.

I don't know if I can say that to someone who still doesn't have the majority of their memories...

Was the one that you got back from working with Hilda good? I wanted to see if you were alright after that as well.

[retellers]

[ they do not seem surprised by him bringing it up. ]

I... am not sure if I can see that it was good. It was more confusing, than anything.

[recrowns]

[good to know hilda didn't lie]

[he hums thoughtfully]

... I'll trade you what I've lost in exchange for what you've gained? I don't want to ask you to talk about something personal if it's uncomfortable...

[retellers]

Okay. I don't mind talking about it... I've only spoken about it with her, and we didn't really linger too much on it.

[ but hm... ]

I was with a group of people... there were four of us in total in it. We were talking about how we were stuck in a time loop. We kept repeating the same two weeks, over and over, for thousands of times.

[recrowns]

[oh.

he raises his brows at that, surprised. he'd talked about the possibility of it with sora, but the idea of someone actually going through it....]

Oh.... That's surprising. What happened in the time loop?

[retellers]

The loop itself was actually pretty mundane. It was summer vacation, and we were repeating the final two weeks of it. It seems like... it was a specific person who was causing the loops. She was unhappy about something, and was unconsciously causing it to happen.

I guess we couldn't figure out what she was unhappy about to break out of it.

[recrowns]

[this is just fucking revue starlight i hate this why do all magical girl shows have timeloops]

Ah... is that as far as your memory could tell you? So you don't know if you got out of it...

[retellers]

[ they shake their head. ]

I don't... I was pretty upset when we were discussing it. I was crying a lot.

[ TO THE SURPRISE OF NO ONE, ]

[recrowns]

his expression falls a little bit at that, growing concerned]

I'm sorry to hear that... It's a hard thing for me to wrap my head around - I can imagine it would be even more difficult to live through it.

[retellers]

It... sounded like we were kind of used to this sort of thing. Not time looks itself, but that the girl would cause things like this to happen...

[ ... ]

It's strange. I thought I came from somewhere pretty normal, but I guess not.

[recrowns]

[ . . . . huh.]

Well... I guess you wouldn't know until a memory tells you otherwise, right?

That's a bit disquieting but... I suppose you do know more about yourself now.

[retellers]

I guess so...

[ they shake their head. ]

What about you? If you're okay with sharing.

[recrowns]

I don't mind - though I think what I lost is a bit less interesting...

[he tilts his head a bit]

I think that I've forgotten my mother.

[retellers]

[ oh.

they're quiet. ]

I wouldn't say that's less interesting.

[recrowns]

.... perhaps in the sense that there's not much I could tell you about it.

[he looks almost - sheepish?]

.... but I'm a little lucky. Even if my personal memories of her are gone... she wrote a memoir in the castle, addressed to someone. So... I remember what she wrote in that book.

It's not perfect... but it's something.

[retellers]

I see...

[ it must be a little odd, to know of someone like your mother through a memoir.

then again, even in a more mundane setting, that actually isn't that uncommon, is it? ]

From the memoir... what does she seem like?

[recrowns]

[ . . . . his expression turns thoughtful then, and he'll take a scone for himself even if he can't fucking taste it. but it's something to do to fill the time as he thinks.]

... an elegant woman who took a burden who was placed on her with grace - and loved her family with her whole heart. She wished better for the world than what it was, and seemed to take on quite a bit of blame even when she didn't need to. Still, everything she did... was out of a hope to improve the lives of the people around her.

[ . . . ]

I think I've always been proud to be her son. I wish only I could honor her memory by keeping it with me. But for now... I suppose this will do.
