okay so mob was a baby. and by baby i mean he recognized that mob was kind of out of his element and it sort of really made sora want to try harder to be friends with him and at least be someone mob could talk to if he wanted. there were times sora felt like he was being overbearing because sora is very much himself and mob is very much himself, but it wasn't really something that bothered him and instead he just kept pushing forward. the thing about mob is that mob is also very levelheaded and mature for his age, moreso than sora was at 14, and it left quite an impression on him. he found that mob wasn't really someone he wanted to protect during this game but he was an ally and he was someone that really seemed to get sora's agenda of trying to understand why this was happening and why people felt the way they felt rather than just going through the motions of capturing a killer every week.
it's also a lot of why he would continually ask mob for his thoughts on things and why he would check on him and why he asked a lot of questions. mob was someone who didn't talk very much and to sora that meant that mob likely had thoughts he wasn't voicing out loud and he wanted to make sure his opinion was heard by at least someone. they ended up on the same wavelength a lot more than sora anticipated but after a while he did ease up upon seeing mob making friends and having people to count on.
granted when mob kind of lost his mind thanks to memloss it sort of reminded sora that there was still so much he didn't know, but it didn't really change his opinion overall? mob was still the same person he was, and probably even more impressive when sora learned what mob was capable of and that he was choosing to keep himself in control (from his perspective, anyway.)
that said, mob died and it sucked but then he got better and sora hopes someday he can gather the courage to ask a girl out and actually successfully obtain a girlfriend. he believes in you buddy
