Clem is really not used to being around people, let alone people around her own age-group! And I think that she really EXPECTS people to just be assholes at first, or defensive, or Various Other Apocalypse Appropriate Behaviors. So while she's a very sincere kid herself - in some ways - and is relieved when other people are too... It also kind of throws her off? She is way more used to Conflict > then Sincerity, mutual apologies > then Kindness. Like, that's just the path that almost all her relationships have taken for YEARS - good people still know to be afraid, and it's easy move past it because she understands why. SO Ochako was another person where she was just like huh???? I got to skip the first step?????????
They just like. Chatted about where she was from and her school and stuff. And unlike with Mob, for example, Ochako was just like "oh yeah I have powers, that's normal and also I'm gonna be a super hero, which is also normal," so Clem felt like, as weird as all of that sounded to her, at least she thought she had a clear picture? Which was very nice! And she liked comic books when she was a kid, so it was honestly kind of cool to think about...?
Nothing too deep, she just thought Ochako was Neat, basically. And then, as per all of Team Rabbit, once she saw them collectively she was like This Is My Group I Will Die For Them And Kill For Them. It meant a lot to her that the whole group was just - people she generally liked. HONESTLY I THINK THAT the fact that she had the same kind of surface-level fondness for each of them without being like super close to ANY of them helped? in its own way? Because it meant she didn't have a FAVORITE within Team Rabbit. They were all just Team Rabbit, her group that she loved. And they did what she asked and trusted her and covered for her (even if Jeanne did make it super easy to begin with) I feel like I'm repeating myself a lot with rabbits but STILL.
Clem went into Depresso Spiral when Mob died, and when she had to turn around and tell her group who had trusted her and done what she asked to like. Pick who'll die. And honestly, like, Chiron volunteering. Okay. Sure. Okay. He's a probably ancient mythological horse he doesn't remember anything, he's at least an adult. But it being another KID that stepped up made her really sad, and between the two of them if I HAD thought to put in a counter-proposal to have Clem die instead, she probably would have tried to take Ochako's place.
But instead she didn't and instead just hyper-focused on making sure everything was taken care of so that the dead could come back. Which is the only reason she accepted ANY sacrifice of rabbits to begin with... She wanted to save everyone, but she was real fucking close to just telling the other Roles NO, YOU CAN'T KILL RABBITS I DON'T CARE IF WE'RE ALMOST ALL ALIVE.
(Also she thought it was really cool that Ochako had the power to float a fucking ferris wheel, jesus)
And she's extremely grateful for Ochako's wish. She knows it benefits Ochako too, so it's not entirely selfless, but it's still such a kind thing that helps all of them and like.............. Clem kind of figured that all of their worlds are SO separate that they can't really reach each other. Like even world-hoppers like Lup and Clem, she was just like. Okay but that probably doesn't reach EVERYWHERE, that sounds ridiculous.
But Ochako's wish made her actually like ".... Oh. Maybe I WILL actually see these people again."
I think ultimately she wants to stay in her own world... But I'm certain she visits people to get new clothes and supplies and food and Maybe Take A Hot Bath Sometimes Okay. And Ochako is definitely on the list of people she trusts to visit and help her out even though she has no money and nothing to offer and is just straight up being a mooch.
