Clem generally liked Alex right off the bat. She seemed nice! She fed Clem! Which, on arrival, was one of the easiest ways to get her favor. And Clem is... Predictably apprehensive of being babied by adults, which she never really felt like Alex was doing. But she also didn't necessarily think of it in terms of, like, "wow alex treats me like an equal." It was just like - with Alex she never felt like she had to think about it at all, one way or the other. From that side.
Clementine is also... super fucking defensive. She questions herself, and if she opens up that door, other people might, might be allowed to help her work through stuff. But a lot of the time, EVEN IF it's something she IS unsure of, if someone questions her judgement she'll go into fight mode from zero to a hundred in two seconds. So it was... Nice to pretty consistently have Alex's approval. From things like... Being AJ's mom, an experience they kind of shared even though Clem is aware that things must be very VERY different for them... To things like Team Rabbit Murder Plans. Alex always seemed to approve of Clementine and believed that she was doing her best. I think that despite her whole Feral Apocalypse Child Don't Need No Adults thing, Clem is still subconsciously very desperate for approval from adults because she lacks stability in her life. That's why she gets so mad when she doesn't have it, and why before she does something big she has Dramatic Emotional Dreams About Her Father Figure Telling Her He's Proud Of Her lsngfghdfhdffgdggfd. So while Clem never thought much about whether Alex saw her as a child or not, she saw Alex as an adult, AND had Alex's constant approval? And that was very meaningful to her.
And then obligatory: Clementine would fucking die or kill for anyone on team rabbit. Having their trust meant everything to her, and she was devastated by what she had to do to her own group. She also felt particularly vulnerable to Alex, because Alex saw her wake up from one of her nightmares and that made her feel Weird and Bad, but - because Alex was Alex, it was fine.
She wouldn't have thought anything of it if Alex was super passive and didn't do anything to try to help, honestly? Because she already liked her so much. But she could tell Alex was being very proactive.
Even if. Alex's contact was Sora, who Clem always had the latest information from because of ?relationship? and role status. So a lot of times Alex would talk to Sora, then Clem and Sora and the other roles would talk, and then Rabbits would have meeting and all of Alex's info was a couple hours out of date. WHICH SUPER WASN'T ALEX'S FAULT and Clem was still very moved that she was working so hard!!!!! She would have thought it was extremely funny if it weren't happening when Clementine was at Maximum Stress Levels.
I think that out of Clem's ENTIRE CR, Alex would probably have been the only person Clem would have felt comfortable talking to about her whole ?thing? with Sora. Which is a lot from Clem, who is shy and bad with people and does not like to be vulnerable. Like, they didn't talk about it? But she feels like they could have, and I think that's meaningful. Or I guess just, like... Typical teenager stuff. If Clem had any other typical teenager non-murder related worries, I feel like Alex is who she would have turned to.
She didn't. Murder is her whole life. BUT IF IT WASN'T!!!!!
