MOB WAS THE SURPRISE FOR ME -- because their CR did not turn out the way I expected. But that's also why I love it, for its uniqueness. Mob struck him as someone trying to find himself, or at least someone who wanted to be certain about the types of decisions he wanted to make, and under normal circumstances, that is Chiron's jam. He is very much a Teacher type and will happily guide students down their paths of self-discovery, but...
Well. Chiron is also a mule who will not change for anyone, especially if he feels he is duty-bound to act a certain way. He doesn't necessarily feel compelled to explain his actions, either, nor does he care what other people think of him. This entire game could have hated him and for the most part, it would not have changed his decisions. That's the mentality he came in with, and ultimately left with.
Which is why Mob getting mad at him did not really weigh on Chiron's soul much, and why he didn't seek the other out after their conflict. He still cared about Mob, would always be kind to him because he thought Mob deserving of it, but in his eyes, there were other people Mob had to guide him, and that was perfectly fine! Mob didn't need him. And sometimes it's best to keep conflict to a minimum so they can focus on what's important.
So he was honestly surprised that Mob ended up approaching him in the end. The thread didn't get very far since admittedly this is the point I was beginning to burn out a little, but Chiron was truly moved that Mob thought to talk to him at all, that he considered Chiron's feelings and wanted to let the centaur know he had been thinking of him. It reinforced the idea that even if Mob didn't like him, Mob was still a kind boy at his core, and it was perfectly fine if the two of them were never close. Finding out Mob was apart of Rabbit's crew only strengthened that ideal.
