Honestly I’d say of everyone in the OT4, Chiron’s opinion of Hansa is the one that has evolved the most. What started as them creating a business arrangement due to their shared universe turned into a… well, not a friendship, not quite that in the beginning, but when I tell you that Hansa unlocked jock!Chiron in their second PC, I am not kidding. Chiron is noted as being incredibly wise and sage-like, and those aspects of his personality are valid, but he is also a warrior, he enjoys the thrill of a fight, and it was comforting being able to share that part of himself with someone who also feels the same.

Because around Hansa, he feels like he can have fun! Hansa is honest, a jokester, yet emotionally competent, and just feels incredibly human in a way that Chiron doesn’t associate with HGW at all. He is used to the emotional constipation that tends to plague mages, so it was the perfect storm for Chiron, to feel comfortable around someone who knew what kind of being he was, what his existence entailed, but without having to go through the awkward explanations and expectations.

And honestly, it was a help that despite knowing exactly who Chiron was, Hansa was still just willing to chill with him like he was a person, not a legend. Hansa only asked for Chiron’s company most of the time, and once it clicked that Hansa considered him a friend – and really, that Chiron felt the same way – that’s when Chiron started putting in more of an effort to be a friend to him, too. (The fact that Hansa had been upset at the prospect of losing Chiron is still one of the biggest shocks Chiron suffered all game, I was laughing so hard).

… AND THEN THE FUCKIN OT4 BACKHANDED US ALL.

Because Chiron’s entire thing with Emet is … well, you already know about that mess, but the gist of it is that Chiron doesn’t want Emet to be alone. So suddenly having Hansa appear with feelings for this other immortal was actually a relief to Chiron, even more so when it was suggested that they all hang out as a polycule. Chiron ain’t the jealous type, he is GREEK and a CENTAUR, and it made perfect sense to invite the man he was quickly seeing as his best friend in on this arrangement. That he brought Alex along? Well, the more the merrier. They all have two hands.

I do think them being in close, emotional proximity to each other is what really cemented the relationship they have with each other, now. Alex turned into his emotional rock, but Hansa is the one Chiron feels most… physically comfortable around, for all the reasons that have been stated above. But also because Hansa just allows for that type of physicality; they both have that shared language between them, that allows for heated spars but also casual kisses. Though that’s also why Chiron is often still blindsided by how quickly Hansa will be on his ass for any grievances, especially if the guy is unhappy with how Chiron is treating himself. It really just comes down to Chiron still not knowing how to treat himself like a living, breathing, physical person who has a right to be alive, but he honestly does appreciate the lengths Hansa goes to remind him that his happiness is valid.
