1. Comment with your character. 2. Receive comments from others. 3. Reply to their comments with long ballads and explanations of your characters' relationship throughout the game. 4. Suffer as we have suffered over your CR.
I'm gonna preface this that it's probably not going to be very cohesive and possibly not very long but also
but also.
my GOD naru where the fuck do i even start with their cr? do you remember when we first put in our apps and were talking about how we were gonna get cr and how excited we were to be roommates that first week to force them to talk to each other? i'm still laughing at how that first week went.
THE THING ABOUT IZUMO IS THAT THEY REALLY SURE DID ALMOST RUIN THEIR CR RIGHT OFF THE BAT. but at the same time i think they both needed each other in a certain way because they offered a certain perspective that the other people never had or never wanted. with izumo, she served as a good reality check to sora to remind him that not everyone subscribes to his brand of optimism and it forced him to rearrange his thinking and be more aware of how other people handle trauma and their emotions. after izumo slapped him and yelled at him, he did actively avoid her for a while and he assumed he would just have to be polite to her and stay out her way. and then hajime died and he realized they were in a more serious situation and he would have to work harder to make sure people were okay.
with izumo especially and knowing early on that her life situation wasn't the best, sora decided he would do whatever it took to be someone she could rely on and it shaped a lot of his future interactions with her. he always felt like she was someone who would hold everything in and wouldn't share any of what she was feeling, so he had to learn how to talk to her about situations and gain her trust by slowing down.
in doing so, and with izumo tolerating him, she actually became someone he trusted so much and pretty much outside of the other roles & his teammates izumo was the person he trusted the most (possibly more than some of the other roles.) there were a lot of things they ended up agreeing on and the more they talked he realized there were similarities in their personality and in their core beliefs that they showed in different ways and ultimately that's what made him value her as a friend. especially their later conversations about izumo and alphinaud and sacrifices, he realized exactly what sort of person she is and why she holds her cards so close to her chest. overall, he thinks izumo is one of those people that's worth the effort to fight for because once you earn her companionship she's one of the most loyal people you could meet (and sora is the type of person who wants loyalty when it comes to his friendship.) and especially in later weeks he really did feel like she had his back and it's why he told her as much as he did and as much as he could, and ultimately why he refused to take her as a sacrifice when swan's team needed to make a kill. he wasn't going to separate her from something that stabilized her and selfishly speaking she was a good friend and he refused to hurt her more than she'd already been hurt.
at the end of the day he really just wishes the best for her and wants to make sure she's happy because she's experienced so many hardships that he thinks she deserves to hold onto one good thing and open the doors for more of them. he believes she's still one of the strongest people he's known and he feels like she also made him stronger by teaching him hard lessons he didn't know he needed. it's terrible. it's disgusting. he's so fond of her even when she's always one step away from shoving him in the dirt but it's fine. izumo's always going to be someone special to him whether she likes it or not
