GRAVEYARD 2.0

GRAVEYARD

Well, that sucked.

But no matter what your death was like—whether it was something peaceful or traumatic, you'll find yourself waking in a completely white room on the floor. Small and empty, there isn't anything else there besides an open door to walk through. But before you do that, you'll probably notice that whatever injuries you may have had, including whatever may have been the death blow, are now gone. That's exciting.

Stepping out of the room, it seems that you're in a large... house? with three different floors. Everything from floor, ceiling to furniture is completely white, except for the drawings that are plastered to the walls in each room. These are all colorful, drawn in colored pencils and crayon, and resemble a child's drawing. The other notable thing are the windows. While they're present all around the building, looking out of them only shows TV static. Besides that, everything is furnished with the absolute bare minimum of each room.

The first floor is all typical common areas one would find in a house. There's a kitchen, living room area, laundry room, dining room, and a main hallway where the stairs are. There are also helpful drawings in these rooms that show the rooms much more lavishly decorated than they actually are. There's a door that appears to be the way to exit the building, it's locked.

The second floor consists of nothing but twenty bedrooms. Each room has one queen sized bed, an empty dresser, and an attached bathroom with only a sink, toilet, and shower. Like the first floor, each bedroom has drawn pictures that show it looking much more lavish than it actually does. Thanks for nothing, artist!

The third floor only has two rooms. One appears to be a home office with nothing but a desk and two chairs, one behind it and one in front of it. While there's blank pieces of paper and crayons on the desk, the note that was previously there is gone.

The other room is much larger, and it's completely empty save for the many drawings lining its walls— in fact, the walls are covered in them, much more than in any other room. On closer inspection, though, it seems like these aren't actually drawings? The papers seem to be showing scenes from the living area. Everything from inside the hotel to the areas beyond the bridge are visible here. However, when curfew hits on Thursday nights, they revert to being normal drawings! Except for the fact that they're all drawings of stick figures being murdered in various ways.

Well. At least there's plenty of things to draw with, if you get bored.

Also, a handy link to the previous post.

misstrust: It's definitely real (I saw it on the internet)

[ She will not.

Dorothy loves freedom. But Dorothy also thinks there's probably more to explore down here, so once she lands safely (somehow), she straightens up and looks around first. ]

[There doesn't seem to be much, at first.

The ground beneath her feet is solid, and it seems to stretch out forever. There are four stakes driven into the ground, which the now-broken chains are attached to.

Off in the distance, it looks like Dorothy can see the ocean. But it will be a bit of a walk to get there.]

[ That's fine, her leg is no longer broken.

Dorothy rolls her shoulders back, taking a breath-- and then begins a jog towards the ocean. ]

[Her leg certainly isn't broken! In fact, it feels more powerful than before. I'm going to be real I'm too tired to check to see if dragon leggy lines up with the one she broke but for symbolism's sake, we're going to say that it does.

Jogging seems to be a good choice - there's the whizzing of arrows overhead, approximately where she'd have been if she'd tried to jump and soar.

As she makes her way toward the ocean, two things begin to form -

To her left, it looks like a town. Up ahead, there are boats materializing on the water.

Where's she headed?]
misstrust: (You were telling me to sit on a knife)

[personal profile] misstrust 2020-11-18 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
[ Hm.

Actually, you know what, she's going to head for the boats, after giving the sky a somewhat concerned glance because where did those arrows even come from?

And why is her leg like th-- no, she decides, investigate first, questions later. ]

[personal profile] dawnblushed 2020-11-18 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[The boats are out on the water.

As she approaches, a dock materializes as well - but none of the boats are docked. They're ... pretty far away. But not too far to jump? (Objectively, it looks like they're too far to jump, but. Dorothy will get the sense that she can make it.)]
misstrust: (The emotion known as "blood")

[personal profile] misstrust 2020-11-19 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
[ Dorothy is empowered by every feminine fight song out there--

She glances at her leg a little dubiously. ]

Well. Forward, I suppose.

[ And so she'll take a running leap from the dock to see if she can take to the skies and aim for a boat. ]

[Dorothy jumps! She's soaring through the air now.

Which boat does she want to try to land on? There are like three that she could probably make it to if she twists to adjust her trajectory. One of them is a small fishing boat, one is a medium-sized ship, and the other is pretty large and has some very ornate banners flying from it.]
misstrust: (Touchdown.)

[personal profile] misstrust 2020-11-19 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
[ She's going to aim for the medium ship! The large one with banners probably needs to be observed before she immediately goes for it.

Flying sure feels amazing, though. ]

[personal profile] dawnblushed 2020-11-19 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
[She alights on the medium-sized boat, and...

...hm! Actually, it seems like the boat is pretty empty. There aren't any crew members running around on the deck, and there doesn't seem to be anyone in the crow's nest, either. At least, not that she can see from down here.

There's a door to go belowdecks and a ladder she can climb up to the crow's nest, though! Where does she go?]
misstrust: It's definitely real (I saw it on the internet)

[personal profile] misstrust 2020-11-19 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
[ Upwards to the crow's nest!

Wow, Dorothy is not going to make any new friends on this boat, I see. ]
dawnblushed: (Default)

thank you for your patience!

[personal profile] dawnblushed 2020-11-20 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[The crow's nest is...

...not as empty as it looked like at first glance.

There's a very still form lying facedown on the ground there. There's also blood coming from an arrow wound on their back. That still, unmoving from won't look familiar at first, but the longer she looks, the more familiar they'll become. Then, between one blink and the next, she'll realize -

That's someone she knows, just not Ange. I'm not canon familiar Kia help me out here.]
misstrust: (She wants us to eat each other)

[personal profile] misstrust 2020-11-20 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Watch Princess Principal, you godless heathen.

But also Dorothy should not have hoped that dying meant getting an emotional break, clearly. How silly of her.

But she kneels down to check the body, just in case. It's very clearly Beatrice, she sees that now, but... ]

The Realm really places you in the most unfortunate rules, don't they...

[personal profile] dawnblushed 2020-11-20 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[I WOULD LIKE TO.

Anyway, yeah, it's Beatrice, and Beatrice is super dead. Her eyes are wide and her expression is frozen in fear - apparently, she saw something quite scary up here!

Above them, a seagull lands on the mast of the ship and squawks noisily.]
misstrust: (Can't we just be Death Eaters?)

[personal profile] misstrust 2020-11-20 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Dorothy glances up at the bird--

And this is apparently enough to trigger a memory, a name... a different white bird. ]

... Wonderful.

[ To Beatrice's dead body. ]

[personal profile] dawnblushed 2020-11-21 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
[The seagull glances down at Dorothy and squawks again, then takes off to fly away. It's flying toward the very fancy-looking boat and landing on its mast.

Beatrice's dead body just sits there.]
