GRAVEYARD Well, that sucked. But no matter what your death was like—whether it was something peaceful or traumatic, you'll find yourself waking in a completely white room on the floor. Small and empty, there isn't anything else there besides an open door to walk through. But before you do that, you'll probably notice that whatever injuries you may have had, including whatever may have been the death blow, are now gone. That's exciting. Stepping out of the room, it seems that you're in a large... house? with three different floors. Everything from floor, ceiling to furniture is completely white, except for the drawings that are plastered to the walls in each room. These are all colorful, drawn in colored pencils and crayon, and resemble a child's drawing. The other notable thing are the windows. While they're present all around the building, looking out of them only shows TV static. Besides that, everything is furnished with the absolute bare minimum of each room. The first floor is all typical common areas one would find in a house. There's a kitchen, living room area, laundry room, dining room, and a main hallway where the stairs are. There are also helpful drawings in these rooms that show the rooms much more lavishly decorated than they actually are. There's a door that appears to be the way to exit the building, it's locked. The second floor consists of nothing but twenty bedrooms. Each room has one queen sized bed, an empty dresser, and an attached bathroom with only a sink, toilet, and shower. Like the first floor, each bedroom has drawn pictures that show it looking much more lavish than it actually does. Thanks for nothing, artist! The third floor only has two rooms. One appears to be a home office with nothing but a desk and two chairs, one behind it and one in front of it. While there's blank pieces of paper and crayons on the desk, the note that was previously there is gone. The other room is much larger, and it's completely empty save for the many drawings lining its walls— in fact, the walls are covered in them, much more than in any other room. On closer inspection, though, it seems like these aren't actually drawings? The papers seem to be showing scenes from the living area. Everything from inside the hotel to the areas beyond the bridge are visible here. However, when curfew hits on Thursday nights, they revert to being normal drawings! Except for the fact that they're all drawings of stick figures being murdered in various ways. Well. At least there's plenty of things to draw with, if you get bored. [Ah. . . he acts like he doesn't know how to react to this. Awkward, is what he seems to be going with. But a little pleased?]

I. . . I missed you, too. Though I didn't want you to have to get killed.

[ she'll let him go after a minute. she's just so relieved? ]

It's okay. Our team had the most people left anyway, so - I'm actually glad it was us, instead of a team who couldn't afford to lose someone.

[exercisms]

. . . Tiger's team has more. Neither of our teams lost anybody until last week. [So they were tied, until two Rabbits died.]

Oh, right. We can talk about that kind of thing now.

[infreefall]

Well, now they probably do, but before... [ she shrugs. ] It's not like we can change it now, anyway. Archer-san and I knew what we were doing when we volunteered, so it's okay, as long as they can fix it.

[exercisms]

You volunteered?

[He doesn't really seem that surprised.]

I didn't think anybody on Swan's team would have picked you, except. . .

[infreefall]

Mm. A few of us did, actually.

Hilda-san was pretty angry with us for it. She's probably still upset.

[exercisms]

I know. Hilda-san. . . has a different view of things, and that's okay. But I don't think it's really wrong to decide that it's important to do what we can to make everyone suffer less.

[And it does seem to him that this decision makes everyone suffer less? It makes the person who has to murder suffer less, and it made him suffer less, knowing that was likely what happened.]

I think it's very kind.

I'm with you. I'm pretty sure she just didn't want to lose someone else she cared about... Losing you was pretty hard on all of us, so it's not like I can blame her.

[ speaking of... ]

You splintered, huh?

[exercisms]

Oh no. [He feels awful about that.] I'm sorry.

[. . . But he's shaking his head.]

I thought so at the time, but. . . it was because Yona-san was splintering. You know how people around them can sometimes start forgetting things, too?

[. . . Ugh. This is a bad story. He hesitates very obviously for a long few seconds.]

When I forgot everyone else, I got really upset and caused a dangerous situation for everyone.

[infreefall]

No, it's okay. It's not like you chose to splinter or anything.

[ she smiles, though it's a bit sad. ]

So it was a secondary splinter? [ so they could have fixed it, after all. mob could have still been on the other side, safe and sound, and that breaks ochako's heart more than anything. ] I wish we'd had a way to know for sure, then maybe you wouldn't have to be here.

I think they all understood that it wasn't your fault, though. None of us blame anyone for splintering, it's just - we hated to see anyone go, you know? They weren't mad at you.

[exercisms]

It was. But. . . what happened was only an accident. A person I was with also got powers that week, and when I scared her . . . she used them on me by accident. We didn't even figure out what happened until afterwards.

[So there wasn't really a way to save him, since it was all only an accident.]

I tried to tell you and Zuko-san what happened so everyone wouldn't have to worry, but I guess it didn't get through.
