[ With the newfound career goals, Kaiza has been getting more active in the community with his friends. However, sometimes, the problems to solve are closer than expected...
Today, when Kaiza gets home, he sits down and plants his face against the table, sighing. Looks like something's troubling him! If Hansa and Emet-Selch ask, it turns out:
Hishi (whose only friend is Kaiza, apparently) is trying to befriend others, on his encouragement. Unfortunately, her target is the hyper-competitive and kind of abrasive Riu—who isn't a bad person, Kaiza makes sure to mention, but... the thing is, Hishi has consistently been beating Riu as the girl with the top marks, and is receiving all the privileges that entails (including spending time with the boy with top marks, who not coincidentally is Ohmi). This is driving Riu insane with envy and insecurity, and it's finally hit its boiling point.
Kaiza caught Riu stealing something of Hishi's and hiding it, mainly to cause some trouble for her. He told her off for it but also listened as she confessed to how miserable she felt, as petty as she knew it was, so she's feeling pretty horrible about it.
To top it all off, it turns out Hishi saw Riu putting the item away, but has yet to talk to her about it and isn't necessarily assuming malice. Now, Kaiza has to decide how to proceed.
Did Hansa and Emet-Selch expect to be caught up in preteen drama when they entered this CYOA? Because that sure is what's happening. So should Kaiza...
A. Tell Hishi the full truth of what happened and why Riu did it. B. Lie and tell Hishi that Riu just put it away for safekeeping. C. Do nothing since he's not involved. ]
[ Hishi begins delving into poisons, which is a perfectly safe and happy choice for a preteen. It's fine. She's making good use of the skills Hilda and Alyssa taught her, at least! Also, she makes sure to keep any serums and bottles at home safe out of reach so that Felix—the cat, who might actually be female—can't knock them over.
Today, when Hishi comes home, she looks perplexed, not unlike how she was when she asked for advice on expressing gratitude. This time, however...
Lately, she's been trying to befriend one of her classmates, Riu! And by trying, she's been giving her a smile every time their eyes meet. In fact, Hishi will give Alyssa and Hilda a smile right now to demonstrate.
... It's, uh, horrible. It looks like she's smirking in smug victory. But she's doing her best.
Anyway, unaware of this particular detail of her face, Hishi continues. She's been giving Riu this smile all the time, so surely they're going to be friends soon. ... Except she saw Riu putting something of hers away in a separate spot from where she put it? And she's not sure why.
But she thinks she should probably ask Riu about it directly. Do Alyssa and Hilda want to encourage Hishi to...
A. Yeah, talk to Riu immediately. B. Ask a friend (Kaiza, Kaiza is her only friend) about it first. C. Just leave it be and do nothing. ]
[ don't blame her for this. even if hishi is doing her best, her efforts are... rough. ]
I want to give this kid a piece of my mind, but—maybe we should tell her to talk to her friends instead? I think going to Riu directly might just agitate the situation more.
[ hilda thats gay. she blushes... bet you're not tired of that meta yet... ]
Yeah, I would hate to see things go south for her... she's already been bullied enough. But that one friend of hers—Kaiza, I think?—sounds like he's pretty popular... if he's the kind of kid who's friends with everybody, maybe he could give her a better idea of how to tackle this.
[ Hilda and Alyssa advise Hishi to talk to her friend, Kaiza, first. She agrees—she will mention that he's stupid in a lot of ways, but he does know how to get along with people, so maybe his advice will be invaluable.
Meanwhile, Hansa and Emet-Selch advise Kaiza to tell Hishi the truth, but make sure Riu is there.
What exactly happens during that confrontation will be known to them, but... both children return home content!
When Hishi comes back, she's smiling—not the awkward smirk, but a real, glowing smile this time. Looks like she can smile just fine if she's not doing it deliberately! She'll tell Hilda and Alyssa that she's friends with Riu, and it's not a misunderstanding now. Well, unless she ever deliberately gives Riu her spot as top in the class, because Riu has threatened to cancel their friendship if she doesn't give it her all and acknowledge her as a rival, but that's fine. Hishi is very happy!! It's all thanks to Hilda and Alysa and Kaiza, whoever the heck that kid is.
When Kaiza comes back, he looks utterly relieved. He'll tell Hansa and Emet-Selch that he seriously considered lying to Hishi, but it was probably a good thing that he didn't. In the end, Hishi wasn't that upset over what Riu did, and was glad to understand why Riu was angry at her (or rather, that Riu was even angry to begin with, because Hishi sure didn't pick up on that). There were a lot of misunderstandings involved, but now that she and Riu talked it out, he thinks they'll get along from now on. He's very happy for Hishi (he has been trying so hard to help improve her people skills), and considers this a major milestone for her.
Happy ending to this preteen drama, while some people here probably hope they don't have to deal with this again. With that said, maybe what happened here will spark more feelings in the future...? ]

[PRETEEN DRAMA...............]
[Hansa lets out a huff. Well, the right thing here would be to tell the truth, but...]
Do you think telling the truth will actually solve things? Hishi might take offense and drive the whole thing apart even further.

It is a chance to test mediation as well, is it not? Allow the situation to come to light with both parties present, and see how well it is handled.

[This could blow up in Kaiza's face, but...]
Ha. This is your way of challenging the kid, huh? See what his true capabilities are.

[he nods, at that, one side of his mouth quirked in a little half-smile.]
He is old enough for it-- really, he has been. Let him exercise his abilities and find out how well he can do.

Yeah, and maybe she'd learn to depend on people a little more! She's really independent, but she should learn to get along with everyone.
[ may the children resolve their teeny bopper drama peacefully ]
