[ hilda just observes the Science for a distance and works away at a small bracelet, gently amused at hishi's reaction to the various bubbling test tubes and mini-microscope.
[ at some point, alyssa also donned some goggles (parents need to set a good example for their children!!) to help hishi with some of the more volatile experiments, which means she's holding two slightly smoking beakers very carefully when the scratching starts. ]

[ while alyssa doesn't have a huge affinity for animals, even she can be swayed by tiny baby sweetheart. setting aside the tubes and placing them on the convenient little rack that came with the kit, she hurries off to a side room to get a nice fluffy towel and hold it open for hilda to place the nyan in. ]
How long were you out there...? [ she blinks a couple of times, then turns her head to look at hishi ] Oh, you're not allergic to cats, are you?
[ she's never taken care of a pet like this, but... hilda helps gently dry the kitten off amidst mewls, though she scoots over so hishi can take over the task for her. ]
Well, I hope neither of you are allergic, because it looks like she might be staying the night.
[ no way is she kicking a kitten back out into the rain. ]
[ alyssa wanders over to. whatever sort of living room they have. do we have a sofa?? but yes, wherever that happens to be, she plops the bundle of towel into hishi's lap so the two of them can get nice and friendly with each other...
but then she looks at hilda, offended. ]
Hilda, are you implying that I'd kick the poor thing out? [ EXAGGERATED GASP. ]
[ Sure, there can be a sofa. Hishi doesn't look quite like she knows what to do with the cat, before she hesitantly places a small hand over its head. ]
[ they're mawwied for the purposes of this cyoa, it's fine. there's a smile to her voice—if it was impossible to toss out their new kitty friend before, it's extra impossible now. ]
Well, I guess I wouldn't mind... it did come right to our doorstep. [ it's kind of fate. she reaches over, giving the kitten a little scritch under the chin ] But we'd all have to pitch in to take care of it, okay?
[ oh... mawwiage... does alyssa's pink face turn an even deeper shade of red, or is that just a trick of the light?

Of course. [ she looks down at hishi before placing her hand on top of her head again, this time giving a playful little ruffle. ] But if we're going to keep it... then we have to give it a name, right? What do you think, Hishi?
