if she does so, fox is waiting there, leaning against the bridge. as she approaches, they give her a polite dip of their head. ]

[ Dorothy dips her head in return-- and then, without preamble, also leans against the bridge. ]

Well, I figured I might throw about approximately seven to ten questions at you, and see how we get along from there. If you want to take a break before we begin, speak up now.

[retellers]

[ in the same cheerful tone that they've generally used all week, ]

I can't promise that I can give a satisfactory answer to all of them, but fire away.

[misstrust]

Fair enough. [ With an equally cheerful smile. ]

Exactly how much do you know about us as individuals?

[retellers]

I know nothing about your lives before you arrived here, if that's what you mean.

[misstrust]

So did you not have a say as to who was in your own faction? I thought the sorting might be because of similarities, but...

[ Hm. ]

[retellers]

Not at all. [ re: deciding their factions, that is. ] As far as I know, it was random, but who knows? Maybe that was a factor, though one beyond our control.

[ a smile, as they tilt their head. ]

Do you think there are similarities, then?

[misstrust]

I don't know a thing about you, so I couldn't say! [ With a short laugh. ]

I think foxes are clever and deceivingly cute, at least.

[retellers]

Is that so? I don't have any strong feelings on them, so I couldn't say one way or another. 𝅘𝅥𝅮

[misstrust]

Did you really not get to choose anything about your... ah, everything? I was told you don't remember your names and that you gave up your memories, but I thought you would at least have gotten to choose the masks and the titles.

[ They seem chill with it, though? ]

[retellers]

[ they hold a hand up to their chin. ]

Well, we did get to choose our... names, if you want to call them that. We elected to go with what was easy to remember, considering everything else going on.

[misstrust]

[ Dorothy nods after a moment, looking out at... nothing, really.

Then-- ]

How rigid are these rules about not telling others about our factions? And does that also apply to those who are in the same faction? Will we know who they are at any point?

[retellers]

Hm...

[ they look as though they're pondering this. ]

You could probably get away with telling a close few, though I wouldn't advise you to announce your affiliation from the rooftops, of course.

Think of breaking the rules as causing instabilities in the Realm. We can adjust for small ones, if they don't simply repair themselves, but it might get risky if you did something drastic, immediately.

[ a pause. ]

Give it until... next week? Starting from then, I should be able to nudge you towards your fellow team members a bit more.

[misstrust]

I'll do my best to avoid screaming it from a rooftop.

[ For many, many reasons. ]

... Why next week, though? Is something supposed to happen?

[retellers]

Nothing in particular that I know of, unless it'll be a surprise even to me. Still, have to wait until everyone speaks with me!

[misstrust]

All right, then. Never mind, I suppose I will go scold everyone from a rooftop--

[ Dorothy, no. ]

[ they laugh, clasping their hands behind their back. ]

Can't you just go hunt them down yourself? Some of us have pressing matters to attend to, you know!

[ Fox, you're enjoying this way too much. ]

Now, now, I think everyone is wary enough of us without us breathing down their necks.

[misstrust]

You just send them a polite little note and there you have it.

Though I can't blame them for feeling wary overall.

[ Because this is bs!! ]

Neither can I.

[misstrust]

I mean, the masks don't exactly send a reassuring message, themed or not.

[ Come on now. ]

Trust me, if I had to pick a work uniform, this wouldn't be it either.

[misstrust]

Is that another rule of this Realm? That you can't remove the masks?

[retellers]

Doesn't hurt to be careful. You're not supposed to take off your uniform while at work for no reason, right?
