Oh. The other three said earlier today- that people have already collected Nova without going through that scavenger hunt. Would... the people who managed this know, that they did or not?
Yeah. If we hadn't done it, you guys would've lost all your memories by now. The effects from being in this place while it's like this are really, really strong. That you're still losing memories so quickly is worrying, though...

No, they wouldn't. We only know because we noticed some nova had been gathered, but we don't even know how those people did it yet, or even who's personally responsible. Which would be kind of useful to know so we could replicate it and do it more!
So I was right, and existing here does have a cost. Things like this always do, it seems... Would we not be losing them at all if things were stable, or would it just be... slower?

It's because it's unstable that it's happening. So once things are back to normal, our memories should come back as well.

It's... both? The lost and scattered memories were vanishing, which is why we need to find out what's causing the problem. Collecting them before they vanish helps, but it's not a permanent solution.

... Was our being divided up really just random? No particular trends, or selection for traits, or... anything? And... is the loss of our memories the only thing that you're protecting us from?
Well... if the Realm had secret reasons for why it split you guys with certain groups, I can't say what it was, but from what I've seen you guys don't have that much in common. [ her last question gives them pause, though ] What else would we be protecting you from?
I don't know. But... there could be a variety of things we haven't thought to ask about, right? Maybe even the disturbance itself...
Though, um, on that note... is our memories being lost a result of the Realm being unbalanced by the disturbance? More like a side-effect, I mean. Or is it more, um, direct on the disturbance's part? I'm not sure I completely understand the nature of everything that's going on here, so I... thought I should ask.

Well... Everything is made of memories. If you take those away, you're not just taking away the past, but the present and the future, too. Everything forgotten. Nothing can work without memories.
