It's not entirely about the death, as so much as the Realm wasn't originally meant to house life, but had to because it was an emergency. The act of removing such a life--when it first happened, the Realm wasn't fully prepared to handle it.
That is why the deaths that followed afterwards don't have the same impact that Hajime's did.
So the """Realm""" dragged us here to participate and then freaked out because it couldn't handle us being here, nor could it handle us not being here anymore.
