There was this big oozy monster that could take on the shapes of people that others knew. It talked about cycles, and memories, and destiny...I don't remember the exact words.
Anyways, maybe that's the monster? Or maybe its just weird crap that the Realm decided to throw at us to mess with us.
... well, I think that you'll probably find some answers there. They are born of the Realm, so there might be things relating to it in there somewhere.
I just don't think you should focus so much on what things looked like while there. That... probably isn't relevant to the grand scheme of things.
