... There was a war, when I was a kid. One SOLDIER stood out, became a legend. He was hailed as a hero. Always in the news. I... wanted to be like him. [ the thing is, he doesn't have to give this backstory. but. it's all he's got, so. he looks at his hand and flexes it ] So I left, joined SOLDIER. We worked together. He was my superior, but we were... friends. Then we got an assignment. Mission at my hometown. Something happened, and... he lost it. Burnt it all down and killed everyone. I... [ he lifts his hand to hover over his chest and shakes his head ] We fought. I won... barely. Killed him, and then... [ he lifts the same hand to his forehead now like he's got a headache and shakes it ] I don't remember the details, but Shinra covered it up. Guy was just declared killed in action.

she shifts, pulling herself up to sit with a wince. ]

[ ... ] I remembered Magnus, today. So I guess we both sort of remembered friends? Yours is way more tragic.
